One of the main ways that personal issues may impact a project starts with the formulation of its aims and objectives. If the individual developing these goals knows the field, they will create goals that will lead to a successful project. These goals can significantly impact the way the team implements the project and its resource usage. Another issue of interest here is the abilities of the manger to control, coordinate, plan, make decisions, and communicate with specific stakeholders in the project (Adnan et al., 2012). Placing more value on an area and forsaking other parts will hinder the success of the project. For instance, if the manager values using resources economically, he or she will impact the success of the project by selecting objectives that will lead to the least resource consumption. Such choices would impact the project's success as the team may leave out some parts that the client considered crucial for the final project. When given the mandate to formulate the project’s objectives, a manager’s principles will have significant impacts on the selected goals. Generally, a person will select project aims that agree with his or her values.
In this project, the client did not give specific objectives, and it was the duty of the implementation team to formulate them. The selection of these goals and objectives depended on the areas that the implementation team deemed as necessary for the completion of the project. Firstly, the team recognized the need to make an application that will give the business more clients than it currently has. Therefore, it stated objectives that will help attract many users, who would end up being the business' clients. Secondly, it was crucial to ensure that the developed project uses resources, such as time and funds. Specifically, it should be complete within the given time of six months, and its implementation should not use more money than the client allocated to it. This is decision came from the fact that the project manager values proper resource usage. Thirdly, the manager values the implementation of projects that generate profit for a business. Therefore, the project report recommended performing a cost-benefit analysis to assess the project's profitability before implementing it. If the manager did not value implementing valuable projects, the report would not have suggested these decisions.
The Impact of Values on Professional WorkAs stated above, a person's values and principles can significantly affect the success of a project. An individual’s values and principles will guide his or her decisions in professional work. While professional work mainly involves following clearly stated formulas and processes, it also includes cases where a person must make decisions that may depend on personal principles or values. Researchers have studied the impact of values on a person’s professional work. An example is Alqahtani et al. (2015), who said that values determine an individual's chances of choosing between two options. They may influence a person to categorize choices as good and evil. This classification will determine a person's choices.
