Military leadership is inclusive of making sound and critical decisions under pressure and in high-risk situations. Military leadership involves asking the right questions, thinking strategically, and drawing conclusions that can be acted upon. Therefore, military leaders have various responsibilities, like taking care of their welfare, talent management, and recognition of the members, and motivating the teams. Military leaders have a role in giving direction and purpose to their tasked units to tackle the battlefield's challenges. The leaders also have a special drive to aid in goal accomplishment. Diversity Dynamics

The military leaders should understand how human differences affect interactions between people. According to the Military Diversity Leadership Commission (2011), diversity leadership is the specific leadership at a group level, either big or small. It refers to how leaders influence the way people relate and interact with each other. Diverse leadership focuses on the functioning of a unit instead of a unit.

It is important to note that diversity leadership does not necessarily require a different form of leadership but a practical and true leadership based on a unique understanding of a particular group. During their training, the military leaders should be educated about the dynamics and how it is important for the relations and interactions between the unit's people. Understanding the dynamics of a group requires a diversity lens to point out the relevant dynamics, which extend to employing the dynamics.

Education and Training

Many leaders and members of the task force have experienced challenges and conflicts in the missions abroad. To avoid these conflicts, the leaders must attend training programs and seminars to educate the leaders about diversity and inclusion. The leaders should be educated about cultural understanding, language, and behavioral changes. When leaders understand their own culture properly, they are more likely to accommodate and understand other groups' culture hence unity and effectiveness of a unit or task force.

National Implications

Nations continue to evolve demographically, so has the army. For example, in America, the army consists of many ethnic backgrounds and different cultures. Additionally, the army serves different populations; therefore, understanding the different cultures is important. Employing different ethnicities in the military has helped the leaders gain more insight about diversity and provide them with firsthand experience of various cultures (Army Diversity Overview, n.d.).

Performance

The army recruits high performing individuals. After recruiting the best talents and contestants, the leaders strive to lead effectively by understanding the people under their leadership and taking advantage of the diverse skills, talents, and acquisition obtained from traditions and culture (Army Diversity Overview, n.d.).

Conclusion

the army today includes different cultural backgrounds due to diversity appreciation. For effective leadership, the leaders should understand that diversity does not solely involve a different leadership style but also insights about a unit's culture and practices. The diverse world has contributed to talent management, hence effective military performance. Most importantly, the army is the strength of a nation; therefore, its leadership plays a significant role in helping a country achieve its objectives. Proper leaders must take into account the importance and opportunities of diversity in the task force and the military.
