It is essential to follow the orders, directives and instructions specifically within the military. As a cook in the dining facility in the military, there are specific guidelines one ought to follow and places one has to be positioned as per the guidelines and rules of the military. An instruction or an order relates to a command given by above or specific guidelines provided by the institution on how individuals should conduct themselves. Orders should be followed to the latter without disobedience. Besides, especially in the military, when a person receives a request, he or she requires to follow the rules (Redmond et al. 12). This work offers an explanation of where a military cook should be in the dining facility in the army and the importance of following the directions.
The Army Food Service Specialist makes everything happen in the kitchen. They have a primal role in preparation and serving of meals when in the field during battles and also in the Army Dining facilities. The meals they prepare should be as per standard and dietetic recipes. Among the other roles, they have to include inspecting the food supplies against food poisoning bacteria and cleaning or maintaining the kitchen equipment (Redmond et al. 9). Besides, the army cooks receive and store food items from the relevant suppliers. Also, another essential role of the army cooks conducts preventive maintenance activities both when at the garrison and even when at the field. As a cook in the Army Dining Facility, it is always a full-time job to be at the kitchen. Their primary roles, as discussed above, require them to be available at full time in the kitchen area (Sandor & Molnar 280). Other than the kitchen area, the cooks should conduct mandatory training for several months as the other army personnel. After that, they should then concentrate mainly on their kitchen duties.
Following the orders has some importance for both the institution and the army cook. First, following orders prevents chaos from happening in the kitchen. The orders ensure each personnel conducts the rules they have been given. By preventing chaos, the work allocated is effectively done. The distinctive role of each cook is effectively and minimises cases of guesswork. An instance is if a cook is allocated cooking duties, and the other is allocated cleaning duties, each one will perform his or her responsibilities without interfering the other person's role. Each will remain on the designated tasks (Redmond et al. 15). Another significant importance of following instructions is that it instils discipline. An obedient soldier always ensures he or she follows the orders given by the superiors. In the military following, orders showcase success, discipline and effectiveness of the cook. Following instructions allows the cooks to move as a team, and if one person decides not to follow the set orders, the probability of failure or ineffectiveness rises (Hall 15).
Conclusion
In conclusion, the values and principles of discipline are among the key concepts that are to be adopted when in the military. All the personnel, including the cooks, should follow orders given to them by their superiors. The cooks should always be at the kitchen when not resting or at training. The objectives given should be developed as per the guidelines. By following the orders given to them, the cooks get to attain effective and disciplined performance. Their service will also reflect on their capacity to follow the rules.
