This concept glass ceiling been used when referring to the barriers that are not seen and cannot be reached which prevent the women from getting to the upper position in the trade hierarchy despite their achievements and credentials. The glass ceiling is a limit that is kept on the upper limit to the development in the profession that is executed on the female gender, minorities in the society and it is not widely accepted (Ingersoll, 2019). Despite the policies that are put into place by the government and the new programs that have been put in place in ensuring that the skills and talents of the women are recognized their progress is still hindered by the glass ceiling. This paper will address the women and management together with how the female gender is trying to break the glass ceiling through innovations and programs put in place to help in breaking this hindrance.
There is a great deal that has been placed in the pathways and which act as a hindrance to female gender advancing into higher positions in leadership. The current advances that women are making in crucial leadership duties in the business, improving their level of education into the tertiary level are viewed as the progressive marks of transformation (Bass & Avolio, 1994). Women are trying to breakdown this hindrance through establishing businesses under their management which has been on the increase for the past years.
The glass ceiling has been in existence because some women who want to venture into certain professional positions lack the appropriate qualifications and experience required in the job market hence this acts as a hindrance for their development (Eriksson, 2015). Women in the leadership can overcome the issue of glass ceiling through acquisition of the necessary skills and qualifications required in the job market, they should take the role of line-management and not parts of the management services, seeking career guidance and counseling, offering to volunteer for positions in leadership and executive and acquisition of abilities in measuring their operation usefulness in their place of work. Women also have been able to identify the emerging issues that hinder their progress in the job market
Recent research shows that the current wave of the female gender in the ceiling breaking is a definite potential impact where the female venture into new leadership duties. For example, Tesla where the chairman Elon Musk was replaced with Robyn Denholm who was the first ever female chair lady (Davidson & Cooper, 1992). The election of females in the Congress has been another way of breaking the ceiling since the elected females are in the position of passing bills, more laws that are in favor of the females in the place of work and infuse lots of cash in their respective district residence as compare to their associates who are the male.
Women are capable of breaking the glass ceiling through the application of effective negotiations which are matters concerning the organizations that they are working in aligning interests through agreement on the contracts that are of benefit to all the parties involved in the investments. Women use teamwork as a way of breaking the glass ceiling.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the issue of the glass ceiling has been there over decades and has been used as a hindrance to the women trying to get to higher positions in the job market. The women have been putting efforts to break the glass ceiling through establishing their businesses, acquiring more elevated levels of education and also volunteering to be elected in higher positions in their workplaces.
