Introduction

Baumrind's and Alder's models are similar in that both categories comprise of parents who leave their children to be in charge. The four parenting styles are beneficial in the sense that parenting approaches help parents have an in-depth understanding of their children's emotions and behaviors. Having more parenting styles provides parents with a wide variety of alternatives to the ways they look into being a parent. Yes, I agree that behavioral adult outcomes make sense to me according to the outlined parenting styles. As listed, some of the parenting styles that do not make sense to me include over coercive and the perfectionist parenting styles. The Alder's model offers a better description of the effects of the forms of parenting, in that according to Courtney's post their mother used a democratic and encouraging parenting approach, this had a significant impact in his life.

Yes, the Baumrinds model provides a better description of the effects of the parenting approaches in that the writer grew to self-reliant, results-oriented, and happy. I would use the authoritative form of parenting as described in the Baumrind's model; this is because even though I love my children, I would like them to believe in themselves while achieving the set guidelines and limits, this will help them to develop a sense of independence and guide them to explore their individuality. IN my opinion, I do believe that it is vital for parents to have a broader view of the different forms of parenting when planning on parenthood, this is because a good parenting style will help parents to shape their children into adulthood correctly.

Response to Rebecca's Post

I believe Baumrind's and Adler's models are similar in that they both view a child as seen. The importance of the four forms of parenting is that it helps parents engage their children to become better persons as they grow into adulthood. I do not agree that more classifications of parenting approaches are essential in understanding the impacts of parenting on a child. I do not agree that the child's resulting behaviors towards adulthood make sense. As listed permissive parenting style seems odd to me. The model provides a better description of the effects of the forms of parenting I as described in Rebecca's case; she parented her children authoritatively. Today now that they are adults, they can take good care of themselves and solve their problems amicably. Baumrind's model explains the effects of a permissive parenting style in that parents need to train their children to be self-reliant; otherwise, they will never be independent or believe in themselves. In my opinion, I do not even know what parenting style to use when parenting my children. Based on my faith and morals, I will base my parenting styles on how I was brought up by my parents, though I would try to borrow into the authoritative form of parenting. I do not believe it would be necessary for me to consider a variety of parenting styles when planning to become a parent. This is because no parent goes to parenthood, knowing how to parent their child. I would work hard to make my child happy.
