Introduction
A nonprofit organization (NPO) is used to refer to privately incorporated organizations which in most cases have a charitable purpose or mission, and they do not seek to benefit from those activities in which they are involved in. They do not provide financial benefits to their members and stakeholders in most circumstances. The main aim of this paper is to analyze the role of an executive leader in a small NPO and show how he can affect the growth of such NPOs by use of various strategies and leadership styles.
Type and size of NPO
The type of nonprofit organization is a charitable organization. It includes doing acts of charity in different fields such as sports, religion, education and helping those who are not well established either financially or emotionally. Donations are made to support these kinds of people and other methods such as moral advice and support were also provided (Grizzle, Sloan& Kim 2015). The nonprofit organizations' size was small and had a population which was less it had little funding, and the main idea was to make the size of the nonprofit organization grow to a large size to be widely spread and also the society has a larger base of implementing its ideas. This would make even the funds of the organization to increase as it would have many or a wider variety of people supporting them.
Mission, vision, and values of the NPO
The mission of the nonprofit organization includes the group's plans and how it plans to do so uniquely. The missions include acts of charity such as ensuring that every person has access to clean water, food, and healthcare. It also aimed to make sure that the disadvantaged in the society are all treated equally and given an equal opportunity to have access to social amenities. It also aimed at ensuring that the poor had access to proper education, housing and even the same treatment and participation in the society. The vision of the NPO was to make sure that in the future the society would have eliminated social issues such as poverty, lack of clean water and access to healthcare and ensure that every individual would be able to support themselves and become independent( Chen & Graddy, 2010). The NPO had its values which guided it in its operations. They included values such as fairness, integrity, equality, and freedom. These values helped guide the NPO and ensure that it achieved its goals without being compromised.
Roles and functions of the volunteers, staff, and yourself
The volunteers, staff and I had specific vital roles that we played in the nonprofit organization. The different roles and functions are as follows .Provision of skills; we provided the necessary skills and expertise that was required in the completion of various tasks. This helped as everyone was an expert in his field and this helped and bringing these skills together helped in the overall growth of the organization. Economic role; the volunteers, staff and me helped by doing the work without charging anything, and this made sure that the organization saved the funds in which they would have been used to complete the task at a certain fee (Call for Volunteers,2009). Helping the society: the volunteers, staff and I ensured that the society was pleased with the services that we offered them and this assured that the organization would continue growing as it received support from even the society. Getting the job done: this is because the volunteers, staff and I were not forced to be there but we did it out of the free will and therefore gave the best results as possible
Language Used To Describe Actions of The Organization
The language implies the method used in communication with human and includes not only writings but also speech consisting of well structuring and convening of the words. Language use can be applied as action, interpersonal action, coordinated action, contextualized action and language use as a thoughtful action. Language is an important tool and have a more significant impact, and use of language is to perform a meaningful action and have consequences to both the speaker and the hearer (Sanders & McClellan,2012)Gregarious- means is so much fond of company and highly sociable as it needs to understand the needs of society well and improve their lives. Talkative the behavior of talking with others thus being able to realize their weaknesses and where there is a possible change to be effected. Kindness means acting in a thoughtful, caring way. Impartiality- fair and just treatment of all people without discrimination along any line. Politeness is the exhibition of good manners in all activities. Sincerity means total honesty and transparency in the organization operations.
Impact of the NPO to The Sector
The organization as long as it functions effectively and maintains its reputation, it will hugely benefit the individuals they serve through their charity work such as environmental conservation work, peace, and human rights initiatives, child sponsorships programs, international development programs, and disaster relief activities. General broader impact to the society through hospitals to help those who have no access to health services, schools to educate, supporting research in medical fields helping new solution to problems to be found and of course absorbing individuals to work for the organizations thus creating job opportunities.
Business support of local enterprises such as hotels, furniture shops, office hire, manufacturing sectors. The local enterprises employ staff who then pay taxes thus an NPO generally helps in raising of revenue for the government indirectly through income tax from their employees and sales tax despite the NPO being exempted from tax in all its operations (Arvidson & Lyon,2013). Long term economic stability and mobility by the building healthier communities through the provision of essentials basic services. Integration and uniting of people with common goals having the willingness to make a change in the society. Individuals from diverse backgrounds, culture, and geographical locations can be able to volunteer, and they will most likely opt to join an already established reputable organization, pool their resources to see their will accomplished to the betterment of the society.
Leadership Style and How It Will Aid In the Growth
Leadership style could be described as how a leader uses to give directions, implementation of plans laid, giving motivation to people - either democratic method or allowing participation. Although a leader should include his/her employees in the process of making decisions, one should solely maintain final decision-making authority. In regard to the small NPO, I have just been newly hired. I would opt to employ: Democratic/participative style of leadership. Here all members are allowed to take a participative role in the decision making the process. All ideas are freely shared, and discussions are encouraged as well (Brodkin, 2016). Allowing of inputs from the employees will have a positive impact on the organization as the inputs can be used to make most of the organization's decisions. This will, however, require the staff being given apposite information that regards the issues of the organization.
This style will aid the growth of the NPO for its effectiveness in helping the team fulfill the organization's goals and objectives by allowing their ideas and concepts to be put into practice.
