Construction is a critical work that must involve people from relevant areas of specialization. All positions and roles are important, but there are some positions that are reserved to people with hire levels of learning and experience. For example, the position of a site manager. Construction site managers are people who are employed to preside over the construction progress. They are supposed to ensure that the project is finished as required on time and within the budge (Hartmann, et al. 2015). Besides are also supposed to coordinate with the client, other professionals and sometimes members of the public to come up with a good Finnish.

Considering the academic qualifications, degree graduates with more experience are good for bigger construction projects. While high school graduates can be considered for smaller construction projects. Experience diploma holders sometimes may be considered for bigger projects depending with the performance on the previous construction jobs. Besides having the base knowledge for building and construction, a site manager should exhibit some othernon-academicskills at personal level that are essential for his/her management process (Zhang, & Boukamp, 2015). For example, the site manager should have:

  • Good communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Team working skills
  • Ability to motivate worker under him or her
  • Have a good knowledge of construction methods and regulations
  • Commercial and economic awareness

With millions of people, majorly college and university graduate engineers looking for jobs across U.S.A, any slight communication about an available job would not be taken slightly. For a single position job advert in New York city, over a thousand applicants are expected. Even though, there are many job seekers, it is still important advertise using the most attention dragging media.

For this case media companies with the highest public buyers or viewers will be considered first. Being that this is an advert targeting youths above 25 years of age, it is important to consider using advertisement platforms that can be reached by the youths easily. In the world today, the youths are prone to social media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, WhatsApp and many others. Interestingly, it is not easy to find youths in the current generation buying newspapers on the streets. People have shifted their preference to online media compared to print media.Thanks to the advanced technology; the various print media companies would still go an extra step to avail the same content on the digital format for the online readers. The In the United States of America, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times are considered top most read newspapers. Also, there are other online media platforms like, the Linkedin, Glassdoor and even Facebook (Hartmann, Beth, and Charles Jahren, 2015).

For me using The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times will be my most preferred method to look for new recruits for the job. Reason, they are more trusted, has more daily public readers and are less to fraudulent. Advertising on The Wall Street Journal on estimate can cost about $.130 while on the New York Times, it may cost about $105 which is relatively cheaper compared to other media platforms with the same effectiveness (Zhang, Boukamp, &Teizer, 2015).

Advertising on online platforms may be free and may also have many viewers, but the problem is that, they are prone to fraudulent. Besides, the advert also may not sound official. Also, the site users may continue to share the information to other social media platforms until later date when the advert has expired. It is important to note that there are possibilities that some people may copy the information, edit the contact details and use it to cone people by requesting for some application fees from the applicants.

Getting the right and qualified engineer for the job may not be easy. For a good recruitment result, interested parties must be given adequate time to prepare and submit their documents Halpin, &Lucko, (2017). For a single position a of a construction site manager, one week would be enough to allow the applicants to prepare everything. Going through the applicants' documents and shortlisting is a tiring work. It is a challenge, that some applicants may be using pirated qualification documents; others may exaggerate their experience while others may have good construction experience but lack managerial skills. It will therefor take a all members of the Human resource department, the construction director, construction coordinator and the architect to oversee the recruitment process.

Even though the media companies have advanced in technology, print media is still more effective for advertisement purposes. It helps in future reference and accessible to people without digital communication devices like phones and computers. Besides it is a good point of reference while preparing application documents. Also it can help to point out exact adverts when solving problems in the court of law on a later date.
