Through the help of bioengineering, a lot of issues affecting people and animals have been solved. The society has recorded tremendous changes which have led to a high quality of life. Many medical complications have been treated through the inventions of bioengineering. The environment has also been protected through bioengineering innovations leading to a better environment in rural and urban areas. For a long time, there has been environmental degradation in the urban areas affecting the lives of many animals. Bioengineering as a discipline is majorly involved in improving lives in society for both humans and animals.

Urban areas have registered a large number of houses being built annually across the world. The buildings continue to eradicate the existence of green areas in the urban centers, which are very important in the regions (Garcia, 2017). The activity has resulted in limited green areas in the urban areas, and the few that are available do not receive the appropriate care to make them sustainable. The degradation of the green areas in the urban areas has led to many animals undergoing continued disruption in their daily lives. In order to develop sustainable cities and societies across the world, bioengineering has been of great importance in achieving the goal of sustainable cities and societies (Garcia, 2017). Bioengineering and green areas management has been used in attaining sustainability in the urban areas making a lot of improvements in the fight for green and sustainable cities. The high housing density and the pollution in some urban centers have contributed to the degradation of the green areas affecting the lives of the animal species in the areas. Bioengineering can be used to protect the natural vegetation which exists in these areas and protect the birds living in the urban centers. Research has shown that birds are the major species that are adapted to the urban environment (Garcia, 2017).

Corneal blinding continues to affect many individuals across the world. It has been facilitated by the insufficiency of accessible allograft tissue used in corneal transplantation (Ludwig et al., 2018). As a result, it has left many individuals suffering from untreated corneal disease. Research has shown the potential of the disease being treated through the help of bioengineering. There is a possibility of developing autologous corneal tissue graft or even collagen-based scaffolds through the help of bioengineering (Ludwig et al., 2018). Another approach can also be used in treating the disease, which entails creating a suitable corneal implant. The implant must meet the refractive needs of the cornea and be integrated into the surrounding tissue. The materials used in the latter attempt are natural polymers that are biodegradable and biocompatible. They include gelatin and gelatin methacrylate. Synthetic polymers, which are also used in the process, provide greater control over the characteristics (Ludwig et al., 2018). These attempts by bioengineering provide a better basis for dealing with corneal blindness, which has affected between 4 and 8 million individuals, especially in the developing countries. These individuals have suffered from a lack of effective medical treatments, and the intervention could act as a great remedy for their sufferings (Ludwig et al., 2018).

In the United States, approximately 27,000 people die annually due to liver disease (Yagi et al., 2013). The huge number of deaths shows how the disease has created a lot of suffering among people. Many people have depleted their savings, trying to treat the disease. One major way of treating the disease used across the world is liver transplantation. It has been the definitive treatment for hepatic failure, and a lot of success has been registered from the transplantations. However, there has been a decline in the number of human liver donors (Yagi et al., 2013). Many people are left suffering from the disease due to the lack of liver to be transplanted into their system. Through bioengineering, a regenerative medicine approach has been proposed to tackle the problem. Through the proposal, rodents are being used for the production of three-dimensional whole organ scaffolds for assembly of engineered complete organs (Yagi et al., 2013). The study aims at developing human-scale whole organs through bioengineering, which will be used for liver transplantation in humans suffering from liver disease. The study will be a great improvement in dealing with liver disease making many people have a quality life (Yagi et al., 2013).

Conclusion

In conclusion, bioengineering is very important in ensuring there is quality life for every individual in the ecosystem. It aims at solving the problems faced in the society through the combination of biology and engineering hence does not interfere with the nature of the specific organism in question. As a result, the organism is provided quality life so as to have a better life. It has created great impacts in the medicine industry, giving patients a second chance to live a quality life. Environmental conservation has also improved with the help of bioengineering. Many animals now have a good habitat thanks to the interventions from bioengineering.
