The foundation is the infrastructure of the whole information system, which consists of hardware, software, telecommunication networks, data warehouse, databases, and procedures, which are managed by several specialists (Beynon-Davies, 2013). The best information system infrastructure should contain such elements, and it must fully support the operations of the business. Sustainable information systems infrastructure is the one that can function or support a system for an indefinite time and supports a very large number of customers efficiently. Sustainable infrastructure can meet all the needs of system users without limitation, and it utilizes minimal resources within the system (Roberts & Grover, 2012). Also, sustainable information systems infrastructure adapts to its environment, it relates to several stakeholders involved in the system, and it supports the innovation in its creation, evaluation, and application stages.
Information system infrastructure is made up of five important components that offer great help in case of a massive fire. Such components are the hardware, the software, databases and data warehouses, procedures and human resources, and telecommunications. The hardware is the physical technology like a computer or a smartphone and peripheral devices that are used with computers. Examples of the software are the operating system, which includes IOS or Windows (Chen & Siau, 2012). Application software is utilized in designing a business web page. A network being part of the infrastructure is formed through connection of telecommunications to the hardware through Wi-Fi or Fiber optics. The human element is another important component of information system infrastructure, and they are required to run the system, which is to be accessed by several users all over the world.

An agile information system infrastructure is the combination of different components such as the hardware, telecommunication equipment, and software of an organization, which creates a system that works to support the goals and aims of an innovation. Under agile information system infrastructure, the system must have the ability to handle increasing customers without affecting the overall operations of the organization. This type of infrastructure has specific characteristics. The first is accessibility, which needs that the operation of the system should be accessed by customers or users easily at any time. The second is maintainability as the infrastructure defines the information system to be flexible to meet changes that take place in an organization without complete system failure. More costs and efforts are focused on maintaining the system (Smith, 2019). The third characteristic is availability, in that infrastructure should provide a system that is always available. An agile infrastructure provides a system that operates consistently through high availability of components like an internet service provider. Scalability is the fourth characteristic that explains the ability of the information system to scale up and keep base with growing customer demand. The infrastructure should contain more resources to assist the system in scaling up. The fifth characteristic is portability, which is the ability of the infrastructure to present an application that operates successfully on a software device. An agile information system infrastructure contains a program that can be executed in any operating system (Smith, 2019). Usability is another characteristic, where the infrastructure creates a user-friendly system to enable every user to utilize, and more cost is incurred in application development. The last characteristic is reliability, where the system can provide reliable information to users and function accurately.
