A Star is Born (2018) is an American movie that was written by Will Fetters, Bradley Cooper, and Eric Roth. The main characters in this movie are Lady Gaga, Sam Elliot, Andrew Dice, Dave Chappelle, and Jackson Maine. The film highlights the controversial life of Jackson Maine, and his experiences when he fell in love with Ally, who is popularly known as Gaga in the movie. Whereas Jackson Maine is a successful musician, his lover Gaga is a struggling artist. Jack supported Gaga to fulfill her ambitions as a singer, but Gaga could not live a good life considering that her relationship with Maine was breaking down. Jack, on the other hand, is a talented artist, but she lacks confidence because many people have made negative comments concerning the look of her face. Towards the end of the movie, Jack commits suicide after a long period of depression and alcoholism. Jack's secret life was unmasked during her memorial service when clips showing the time she spent with her lovers in clubs was made public. The main ideas from this film are alcoholism, friendship, jealousy, and suicide. My passion for romantic musical drama is the basis for choosing this American movie. The film is worth retelling since it has influenced my beliefs about prosperity, the power of talent, and risk-taking. The film, therefore, has impacted my life since its ideas have shaped my attitudes about positive risk-taking and making decisions by following instincts.
Jackson Maine's beliefs about success have changed my attitude about positive risk-taking. Initially, I had negative attitudes towards taking risks, even if it has potential rewards in the future. I used to regard risk-taking as dangerous and even unwise despite its opportunities. However, Maine believed that success is all about trusting guts, not overthinking on small issues and taking positive risks. In several scenes, Maine told Ally, among other characters to trust their instincts and be willing to take risks. Maine persuaded Ally to quit his job and instead join him on stage as an artist. Even though Ally was terrified, he followed his gut, and finally, he succeeded in his career as an artist. Ally's decisions were based on risk-taking and trusting instincts. After watching the movie, I have developed positive attitudes towards risk-taking and following guts in decision-making. While Ally faced multiple challenges for taking risks, she reaped significant rewards that marked a turning point in her life. Ally's experiences have encouraged me to be a positive risk-taker, and thus, the movie has dramatically impacted my life.
The movie has enabled me to explore talents and skills that can improve my life. Maine, Ally, and Jack ventured into the music industry as artists after discovering their abilities. The video, however, is a musical film that explores how several characters succeeded in their life by utilizing talents. They performed their music live and thus making music a character of its own in the film. Without the passion behind lyrics, besides the beauty of instruments and octaves, music is just a sound. From this movie, I learned that talent is an essential aspect that individuals can utilize to enhance their life. Ally aspired to be a seasoned artist even if she started as a struggling artist. This movie has motivated me to nurture public speaking, journal writing, and networking as my special talents and thus has positively impacted my life.
The movie has shaped my self-esteem and self-confidence. I learned from the film that it is essential to believe and trust in oneself. The video has impacted my life since it has enabled me to get rid of self-doubt in school and other social places. In the film, Ally knew her worth despite rejection in the music industry because of her "ugly nose." Her spirit is also indomitable regardless of harassment and humiliation at the workplace. Ally continued writing and performing songs at drag clubs as a way to keep the musician in her alive. In another scene, Ally was humiliated in a live concert when attendants told her that she was ugly. Jack disagrees with such comments and motivates Ally by telling her that she was beautiful. However, an off-duty cop harassed Jack and punched him in the face for saying that Ally was beautiful. If I were Ally, I would not perform in the same show after such disrespectful comments and harassment from a cop. I learned from this film that the world will always have opinions about me, but it should not distract me from achieving my objectives. The lessons I learned from the movie have enabled me to build self-confidence and self-esteem and hence, have positively affected my life.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the movie has positively influenced my life in three ways. First, it has changed my attitudes towards positive risk-taking. Initially, I viewed risk-taking as a dangerous decision, even if it has positive outcomes. After watching the film, however, I have embraced it as a way to succeed. Secondly, the experiences in the movie have enhanced my self-confidence and self-esteem and hence, has improved my social life. Despite disrespectful comments about my outlook, I am focused on improving my life like Ally, who was not bothered with adverse opinions about his face. Thirdly, it has enabled me to explore talents and special skills, which have improved my life.
