Every ending is always a new beginning. When something ends, something new begins which provides new opportunities, actions and processes. This is the case of every aspect of our lives and as well as other living organisms, isn't it? The end of the pupa stage in the developmental life cycle of a butterfly gives rise to an adult butterfly that has wings to fly. The end of life on earth is the beginning of eternal life for the Christians and other religious groups. As we close this chapter of our lives and start the next one, it is vital to thank all the people that have been there for us all along. To all our families, professors and administrators, if we had a cent for every time we appreciate you, we would be millionaires.
This place for a lifetime, will hold an exceptional part of my heart for here we endured, enjoyed, engaged and have together emerged victorious. I cannot believe that the time has finally come, for those of us on the last days of college, to say goodbyes. I am both proud and humbled to be here tonight, in the company of many amazingly talented and inspiring individuals.
It has been a long four semesters and two short years. Long because of all the drama and bad assignments, the boring readings and readings, early morning classes and all the other little pratfalls that hit us in college. Nobody likes the pressures associated with exams, lots of reading and imagining leaving the sweet morning sleep for classes, do you? The period has also been short considering the lifelong relationships, lasting memories and the interesting and amazing things that we learned between the occasional bits of drudgery. The college experience has bought this little group together in a way that only we can understand. While different objectives have brought us all here together to enjoy a tremendously dreamy phase of our lives, we do have some things in common, not like the basic tall, short, fat and lean characteristics.
We definitely had some good laughs over the years, in equal measure, we have faced challenges and experiences along the way of graduating in this course. Being a real community worker on creating changes on student strike back, community forum and deputation for hiring new chief which bought out the best out of every individual classmates and our work is still echoing at union notice boards which have helped us to learn and to grow as people. We have found in each other an incredible amount of support.
On this special day of commemoration, I also want to drag your line of thinking towards the future - I think all of us with some mix feeling of animation, agitation, and aspiration. Since, after years of 'Aims and Ideas on mind', how do we mold those aims and design into the real world of today to make the most of it? How do we use all that we were amazingly taught for the betterment of this world we were bestowed? As Uncle Ben pointed out to Spiderman, 'With great power comes great responsibility' and I am of the opinion that it is an obligation upon us to figure out what we've learned in order to rightly and honestly use our powers to make this world a happier and better version of itself.
Years from today, when we will stumble on that one box full of memories and reminiscence in the basement I believe our hearts will be touched by the cordial feelings of fondness and affection we found here and the prestigious memories that we've made along the way. I know all that we did here big or small is forever mashed into the layer of our lives and will tag along till the end. All the friends we've made, honking at each other in the driveways to get going, the books we lost, coffee that kept us going, late-night discussions just to understand the concepts, partying to ease us from the exam pressures and all the little absurd episodes of our time here will be missed and trust me you are going to want this back and wish that it hadn't gone by so fast. We'll always remember those exams that we passed when we thought that we had totally bombed. Neither the professor nor I know what happened, but what matters is that my GPA survived. The care packages from our families, the long weekends when there was no class on Fridays, those classes where the professor would say that attendance is optional and extensions on assignments. While these events may seem small, they meant a lot to us and made college life more bearable and enticing at the same time.
We the class of 2019, are a power house of innovation and creativity. We will push boundaries to make this world a better place in either small or big ways. We have all that it takes to change the world. Let us embrace the new phase of life with positivity and optimism and just like the butterfly, we'll fly in our new phase. Always remember where you came from and always remember where you are going. Congratulation graduates.
