Introduction
The employee in question is dissatisfied with their job due to the circumstances surrounding him. That is the reason why he would want a pay rise as he feels that the input he gives is not reflected in the earnings. His motivation has gone for the work and therefore wouldn't want to work anymore. There are several ways of dealing with such a situation. This paper aims to develop two plans for solving this situation.
Restructure Communication
This involves restricting how information is passed to the employee in terms of their duties and responsibilities. In this structured communication, clear goals are to be set for the employee to know what exactly they are to achieve. This would also involve reassuring employees of their position in the organization and their impotence. The communication should be done with all due honesty and integrity for the employee to win over the trust.
The very same communication may also involve breaking the bad news to the employee about the fixed budget the company has and that it may be a bit difficult. The reassuring of the employee that they are significant to the company despite the situation surrounding them may motivate them to work harder. In this, the employee may be offered an opportunity for career development through exposure to us executive positions and also contribute to give them training at a future date, when the company is in a proper financial place to do so.
The supervisor also needs some counseling on how to handle the employee. This may involve training them to reduce the pressure exerted on the employees and encourage a friendly environment. All these should be done within a shorter time possible. Ensure that the employee is given attention and regarded when passing any information. This would solve the conflicts with the current supervisor. It would also make them feel special as they are appreciated and no need to compare with their friends despite the pay.
Flexing and Bonuses
Flexing the work environment means removing fixed schedules and enabling the employee's program to be more flexible. For instance, the employee may be allowed to choose the exporting time and time to leave, as long as they meet their daily goals. This creates a sense of freedom and will enable them to organize their schedules. They would be able to create time for other things in their lives and fulfill their responsibilities. Flexing also reduces boredom in the workplace as the employee may take occasional breaks.
In this flexing, the organization may create challenges for the employees in line with their activities to motivate them. The working environment can also be made fun through the flexing to manage the boredom the employee has. Bonuses are given occasionally so that the employee identifies that their effort is recognized and that the company minds their contribution and the extra work they are doing. This would also motivate them to work harder.
The two of them working in the department can be given the autonomy to make their schedules and divide the work themselves. The bonuses may be provided on a borrowed budget if the situation is too dire and offset it at a future date when the organization is at a better plea to handle the financial crisis. Supervisors should be trained to be polite and lenient to the employee and also appreciate the work they already are doing.
