Elements of moral philosophy guide in what is expected in different occasions of the society. Society is made of different kinds of people where they are the needy, handicapped, and those that are healthy and financially stable. Depending on the background which everyone is raised into, people act differently to such people. The societies develop different theories regarding discrimination of the handicapped, the needy and those that require medical attention. Mostly the judgment and the amount of assistance rendered to such are determined by various factors. In the elements of moral philosophy, there is a description of moral discrimination where certain people are treated differently despite them being common in all aspects. However, there as others who are discriminated due to their physical or psychological challenges. Such people often require assistance from the society but they are limited to their physical challenges. In regards, there are conditions where the society is obliged to give monetary aid to the needy. This paper will discuss the conditions required for giving monetary value.

There are various economic standards in the society. There are people who have more than they require surviving, others have just enough to live on while others live in poverty and lack enough food and clothing. The using possess what they need and what they desire hence live a more comfortable life. The poor live in conditions which are not fit for human (Walter 15-32). They lack basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing. Such people live in hardships and require the society's assistance from time to time. State of poverty means that a person id underprivileged economically, politically, and socially. The poor lack access to education and healthcare and there are not exposed to opportunities that can change their situations (Walter 15-32). Living conditions of the poor result in their life becoming miserable and fewer achievements are encountered. Since it not possible to transform such people lives completely is recommended to offer help of basic needs such as food and clothing (Walter 15-32). The society improves when they are few people living in harsh lifestyles. Caring for such people is usually a noble act and people are encouraged to touch such people's lives. The little help their receive serves as an encouragement that condition is not permanent (Walter 15-32). They feel included in the society and their dependence is strengthened. There are other members of the society who offer opportunities to the needy so they may have a permanent solution for their living conditions. Such deeds encourage the needy and their dignity is improved.

However, there are needs that require monetary assistance. Poor people live in poor sanitation hence their health is at risks. The feeding nature is also unhealthy which exposes them to more health hazards. Money is required for medical attention and even purchase of the necessary medication. Offering monetary help regains their self-confidence and esteem (Walter 15-32). The kind actions that the poor receive from the society also motivate them to work harder so they may have solutions for such needs. The poor are encouraged when they receive moral support and humility from the rich in the society (Zaman). Such actions encourage them that their situations are not permanent and they are people who care about their lives. Another solution that helps the needy is providing them with opportunities that help in improving their living standards by themselves (Walter 15-32). The act improves self-dependency and reduces the number of the needy in the community. Moral philosophy also encourages people to work with poor and the needy and help them to discover their abilities (Zaman). After they discover what they can handle it is important to direct them where they can apply the skills hence benefit and change their living conditions. Raising the funds can be conducted by individuals, through donations or personal visitations to the needy. Organizations also gather and establish a fundraising where they collected amount is meant to aid the needy. The money is then allocated to solve problems such as the healthcare and sanitation.

"The Singer Solution to World Poverty" is an essay which focuses on poverty and how Americans can handle the situation. The author suggests that Americans should donate a part of their income to save the needy. The singer has the idea that when people withhold their income they subject more people and children to hunger and starvation. The author also provides solutions to end world poverty and liberating the needy from their living conditions (Zaman). Singer suggests that people should give up luxurious lifestyles and offer help to needy. Although the author is realistic while suggesting on ways to reduce poverty, the suggestions are too demanding given that Americans have their needs that require attention and money. There are Americans who can afford to save the needy but the author is ignoring the idea that many may have more problems that require financial liberation (Zaman). A method that would work in order for Americans to donate to the needy would be teaching them the noble actions and the element of moral philosophy.

Singer uses an example of two individuals Bob and Dora who chose money and material possessions over helping needy children. Singer gives the example to his audience pointing that the lack of help is immoral and the society should practice giving (Zaman). The author also gives an example that the matter of life and death of the needy lies in the hands of the society (Zaman). The singer has the interest of the needy at heart but his communication is demanding and imposing. Americans are not convinced by the author's arguments although it is logical to assist the poor (Zaman). The author also ignores that necessity and luxury mean different depending on each individual. The author also discourages his audience by expecting too much while people have different perception towards giving. Singer ignores the fact that a lot of people are suffering in America and require much assistance. The singer is much focused on ending worlds' hunger and ignores the major problem faced by Americans.

"Feeding the hungry" is a book that executes the first actions of mercy. The initial act of mercy and compassion is feeding the hungry and attending to their visible needs. With such acts, the society saves the needy from calamities such as hunger and diseases (Walter 15-32). The book also compares to Jesus who fed the hungry during the old times. However, most people are still dying of hunger especially in America. Christians have overlooked the virtue of giving to the needy and everyone is working towards their personal prosperity (Walter 15-32). It is observed that majority suffer during the Thanksgiving festival whereas they are some families who throw away half of their food. Giving money to needy is an act that people in America should adopt and spread in order to eradicate world poverty. Another effective way that people can help the needy is creating food banks where people donate the excessive amount of food. Such food should be taken to the needy in intervals of daily or weekly basis (Walter 15-32). Donations to the organization that takes care of the needy are also encouraged since other people are able to reach them on behalf of the community (Walter 15-32). It is unfortunate when people fail to help the poor and criticize their shortcoming forgetting that it is not their choice. The needy require encouragement and help so that they can move from their situation. Discouraging them only worsen the situations and most are discouraged from moving on with life.
