Introduction
Through technology interaction between different countries has been made easy. Globalization can be termed as an undertaking whereby organizations interact internationally with the help of technology advancement and free market economy. Globalization is paramount for the growth of the economy and it helps people within the system.
Firstly, globalization leads to job creation. Developing countries such as Cambodia have a very high rate of unemployment. Globalization has led to international companies opening manufacturing branches in developing countries where the cost of production is low. These manufacturing companies have employed many people. The working conditions in the sweatshop are not that ideal but it's better than the dumping sites. Many unemployed people work at the dump site scavenging. Working at the dumpsite is dangerous and the pay is little compared to the sweatshops. Others don't have jobs. One might also argue that the sweatshops use child labor. If these sweatshops were to be closed, the children would still not go to school. They will go to the streets to look for odd jobs to do to get paid. But in the manufacturing companies they work with their parents hence they can be monitored and they earn a living to be able to feed their family members. Nobody would like to work in the sweatshops but if they are given options they will choose the sweatshops over the streets. Thus despite the small negative aspects globalization is beneficial to the citizens.
Secondly, with the income, they get from the sweatshop they can improve their standard of living. With the money they get from the sweatshop they are able to provide basic needs to their family. The people working in the sweatshops need a place to live and a place to buy food. It has led to the mushrooming of towns. With the surplus income, they can go cybercafe to surf the internet, theatres to watch a movie or go shopping to buy clothes. Globalization has led to the growth of towns that offers many services to the citizens. Manufacturing industries pay taxes to the government. The more the companies the more the tax. The taxes collected are used by the government to improve the standard of living of its citizens. They are used in the building of infrastructures and provision of health care to its people. If these companies were not their government revenue would reduce. Thanks to globalization the government has an extra source of income.
Conclusion
In conclusion, globalization has really helped the people within the system. People in America or Europe might think that these manufacturing companies are exploiting the citizens of countries such as Cambodia and China. But if they knew how the sweatshops are helping the citizens they will continue purchasing their products. It is true the working conditions are deplorable but this can be changed over time. If people were to boycott products from the sweatshop's many people will lose their jobs. Families will be in a quagmire. The income they get from the sweatshops is what they use to provide basic needs for their families. Towns that were created because of the manufacturing companies will be affected economically. Many businesses in the towns will close down. The magnitude of the effect of globalization on this countries is huge. Unemployment rates are high and these sweatshops try to alleviate this.
