The article assesses and provides a summary of death row inmates. Death row is a unique segment of a prison that inmates who are expecting execution after being served with a death sentence for the persuasion of capital crimes. To manage to analyze most effectively, the article evaluates the strength and shortcomings of death row demographic data, clinical studies, research centered on institutional reports. The article demonstrates that the death row inmates devastatingly male and excessively Southern. From this point, one can claim that the article is biased because; it suggests that death row is a problem faced only by male prisoners particularly those that are found in Southern due to its belief that Southern is the community that has significantly been affected by racial prejudice when compared to the rest of the population in the universe. To be able to sound genuine it uses psychological theory to provide why the rate of mental disorder among death row inmates are high that contradict to the anticipation that majority of death row inmates do not display violence in not only in prison but also institutional settings. To conduct a review on this topic, the article has backed up its claim with references, use simple language, followed the recommended format of writing journal. However, it has no mention of the objective and aim of the study, describes the problem statement and literature gap.
The journal has validated the claims that it has presented with significant works in the field of criminology. The references in the articles take APA format - (surname, Year). Some of the examples are (Marquart et al., 1989), (Reidy et al., 2001). (Marquart & Sorensen, 1989). Moreover, it has gone to the extent of providing a reference list of all incited sources. This offers the reader chance of accessing extra information from the sources the article employed.
Moreover, the journal has used simple and plain English. The vocabulary used does not require one to seek meaning in the dictionary in the process of writing. Simple and plain language assist the journal in communicating to its audience is most explicit manner; hence, understanding becomes easy for the targeted audience. There are no grammatical errors in the articles; almost all rules of grammar were followed to the latter.
Conclusion
The journal has organized its information according to the recommended structure a research paper follows abstract, background information and introduction, body and, conclusion. Nevertheless, it misses the crucial part that should be in any of published articles- background and introduction section. The purpose of background and introduction in articles in to introduce the reader to the topic and the article narrows down to present its thesis statement, by the fact the articles lack this portion it is hard to identify the purpose, aim, and, the objective of the paper. It was apparent since the paper lack introduction, definitely it lacks where it will outline its aims and objectives. However, the other segments were present, for instance, boy was divided into different themes helps it was easy to navigate through the article quickly and finally, it ended the analysis with a conclusion that not only gave a recommendation but also discussed regarding the future of this study.
