Introduction
Three Genres mentions ambivalence as well as acknowledging the limits of one's memory or knowledge as fundamental concepts of creative non-fiction. The book simply implies that various non-fiction writers always focus on observing and recording, thus shaping moments from real life. As such, they need to have a clear memory of key historical concepts to develop effective non-fiction. What makes any non-fiction work interesting is working through unknown thoughts and ideas (Glose, 2018). I realized that in the non-fiction writing the author is placed in some scene; maybe in the present or present and such writings enable the author to make a reflection about a scene and discover new ideas as exemplified in Chapters 3 and 4.As such, having a vast point of view of an issue as well as analyzing it is essential in making conclusions that in most cases form the basis for non-fiction writings. Therefore, I felt encouraged by the concept of the adoption of the memory and the attitude of ambivalence in writing. This feeling was orchestrated by the fact that ambivalence is uncertainty, which gives the writer as well as the reader the chance to underscore the magic of writing discovery (Kieffer, 2015). For instance, I realized that looking at our past experiences enable the readers and the writers to acknowledge the things that did not exist at a glance.
From the message, the first character highlighted a scenario when they had visited the Philippines with the family for a short vacation. Still, it got attacked, and everything was robbed from them (Glose, 2018). These included all the cash they had, credit cards, and their cell phones. This seems believable since the victim expressed their inability to settle their hotel bills. It was unfortunate for them since the police at the embassy where they thought of getting some help were not doing anything in response to their situation. Also, their flight is supposed to leave in less than 12 hours. This is non-fiction presented in a short story form. The character narrated what they encountered in their short duration in the Philippines. The short story's subject matter was also presented, and the cause-effect clearly stated (Minot and Theil, 2011). Besides, they are looking for assistance from the recipient to cater to their current hotel bill settlement. The hotel manager, on the same, was being careful not to let them go before paying their bills lest the hotel would run at a loss.
