The Coronavirus disease has acutely exposed existential loopholes of investments, in medical facilities and food production globally. Shortages of essential materials such as face masks and gloves have indicated most countries are not well prepared to combat a fast-spreading pathogen like the Covid-19 (Harlan et al., n.d.). Some states have started to experience food shortages as the entire world remains at risk of the pandemic. Most countries have also been found lacking a robust disaster management program.

The American medical care has been exposed as medics grapple with insufficient 'tools of work' (Coronavirus updates from March 31, 2020). several complaints have been raised regarding face masks and gloves, critical components of a safety requirement by the medical staff, yet this basic component are lacking. Italy has been the most hit regarding the number of deaths, with over 14000 casualties of the disease reported by the government, notwithstanding Italy has one of the best medical care globally (Harlan et al., n.d.). Spain has become the second most hit country in terms of deaths tolls, both Spain and Italy have had their medical facility overwhelmed despite being privy to a possible global spread of the virus, the two countries lacked a robust disaster management program to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. Some countries in West Africa have also experienced a food shortage amidst their medical facilities being under a threat of being overwhelmed (Africa hit with "extremely rapid evolution" of Coronavirus pandemic, 2020). These shortages indicate gray areas where most countries have neglected.

In conclusion, it is puzzling to see world superpowers grapple with a shortage of medical safety kits. Italy and Spain have been struck by the pandemic, because of poor disaster management strategies in the countries. Some countries in Africa have complained of food shortages; it is a worrying take away, considering the end of the pandemic is unprecedented. Most countries have not invested adequately in the provision of essential services such as medical equipment and food.
