Self-awareness is a very critical aspect that each person ought to embrace. The ability to have a personality with a clear perception of your strengths, thoughts, weaknesses, motivations, beliefs, emotions and thoughts are imperative to every individuals life. Additionally, self-awareness allows individuals to know how people perceive them, understand them and how to respond to their attitude. Broadly speaking, we have the assumption that we are self-aware but having a relative scale for self-awareness is crucial since it will enable us to create opportunities to make changes in beliefs, behaviours and interpretations in our lives (Rae, 2014). This paper is all about learning challenging behaviours which I encountered in my difficult class, but I managed to pull through with decent grades.

Describe the specific behaviours that gave you trouble.

Typical individuals do complain about mathematics classes. Ideally, I also felt a victim of the same at one time. Maths class was hell to me. Whenever the maths teacher entered the class, a siesta always unveiled itself besides the teacher being imperatively terrible, cruel and harsh and he always screwed me up.

What antecedents prompted you to perform these behaviours?

It was as a result of the following; first, peer pressure from my fellow students since they had a perception of maths being hard and thus I fooled suite by establishing a negative mindset of the same. Secondly, it was due to laziness and a negative attitude towards both the teacher and the subject itself.

What were the reinforcing consequences for performing these behaviours successfully?

I experienced both reinforcements; negative reinforcements uncovered from the instructor. He was a no-nonsense person and would always inflict pain on me wherever I scored poorly or did not master the concepts efficiently. Positive reinforcement was from rewards accorded to students who scored higher grades in the class.

Would you have been punished if you had not finally succeeded? If you had been punished, how would you have felt about it?

The punishment could be personal l since I would not be in a position to join the institution of higher learning and at the same time, my parents had vowed that if I fail, they will not be liable to help me in any other way since my siblings needed support. I could have felt desperate and traumatic if I could not have made it

Did you use vicarious learning to try to solve your problem? If you did, who did you imitate and why? If you did not, why not?

Yes, indeed vicarious learning was very helpful to me. I just had to embrace the spirit which propagated and served as my stepping stones towards my achievement. I had to imitate my classmate who used to perform best in the maths class (Jennifer & Gareth, 2007). I had to incorporate his study habits, master them and apply them. Whenever he tackled mathematics calculation, I also did the same. With time, I had learned the concepts entirely.

Did you use self-control to try to solve your problem? If you did, what goal did you set for yourself, and what was your self-reinforce? If you did not use self-control, why not?

Yes, I applied self-control which helped me to reinstate and exploit my inherent potential fully. I buried the mindset that maths is complicated. I changed my attitude towards the subject and my teacher. The primary goal was to join the institution of higher learning. Besides, I also wanted to be acknowledged and rewarded like other performing students in conjunction with making my parents happy.

Describe your level of self-efficacy when you first started out, when you were having a particularly troublesome time, and when you finally succeeded.

Initially, I had a perception that I could not handle mathematics. My self-efficacy was significantly low at the moment (Jennifer & Gareth, 2007). But when I changed my attitude and the influence accorded by the vicarious behaviour, I commenced performing when I established the art of self-awareness, this uplifted my self-efficacy drastically to a higher rank.

What do you think your level of self-efficacy will be for similar tasks in the future? Why do you think your self-efficacy will be at this level?

My levels of self-efficacy towards mathematics class will always remain high in the future. The fundamental reason is that I am self-aware that I have the potential to perform in the field. Therefore, there are no limiting factors that would kerb or bar me from securing decent grades as usual in such a troublesome class as most individuals perceive.
