On October 7th, I read in the newspaper that Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed as Trump's nomination to the supreme court. The United States Senate voted 50-48 in confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the highest court, an anticlimactic finale to one of the major contentious supreme court fights of confirmation in current history. The results were interrupted by protesters who were shouting from the gallery that forced the presiding Vice President, Mike Pence to call for order. Not only did the confirmation expose the raw emotions of sexual misconduct allegation, but also sparked national conversations that were intense on privilege, class, and gender (Ringhand, n.p). Nonetheless, the confirmation became assured on a Friday, after a group of wavering senators publicized their choices in the wake of supplemental FBI probe. The investigation of the long week revealed nothing in the allegation against Brett Kavanaugh but Democrats were forced to meet it with furious criticism. Trump called Kavanaugh for congratulations after the narrow vote and immediately signed his Air Force One commission (Ringhand, n.p)

Additionally, Democrats and Republicans grappled for weeks over the views of Kavanaugh on legal rulings that were controversial and the disclosure of many documented pages related to the nominee. In September, the clear path of the judge to the vote of winning in the GOP Senate became interrupted by a sexual assault accusation which had occurred decades ago and had mushroomed to numerous allegations that created weeks of agonizing debate. Christine Blasey Ford, the California professor, had sent a letter to the Democratic Republic of California, Anna Eshoo, saying that at one point in the 1980s, an intoxicated Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, his classmate, pinned her down on a bed, attempted to undress her while her mouth was covered during high school (Ringhand, n.p). However, Kavanaugh vehemently denied the accusations that led to an emotionally pitched testimony, the same day Ford was seen before the Judiciary committee of the Senate went to discuss the incident in question. Nevertheless, the accuser was viewed as sympathetic and credible while the fiery of the judge, the combative performance gave hope to the conservatives, including Donald Trump to ramp up their support for Kavanaugh. Beforehand, the chances of Democrats of stopping the confirmation of Kavanaugh successfully were viewed broadly as slim all through the confirmation process. Kavanaugh's character and record were, however, extolled by judicial groups that were conservative and some left prominent figures such as Lisa Blatt, a liberal feminist lawyer (Ringhand, n.p).

The second accuser, Deborah Ramirez, also alleged that Kavanaugh once exposed himself in a game of drinking while they were students at Yale. Julie Swetnick, the third accuser also claimed to have seen Kavanaugh orchestrating a group of gang rapes by the time he was aged fifteen but still, Kavanaugh declined all the accusations. Thus, how the drama of Kavanaugh plays out might be the ultimate test of the current struggle for cultural and political power (Ringhand, n.p). Therefore, in my personal opinion, Brett Kavanaugh should not have been confirmed following his previous misconduct accusations that portrays a negative image of him and the supreme court. However, since the president too is a conservative and also has histories to do with women, the two had to converge making Americans have no say over the decisions made by Trump. The rulings of United States changed immediately Trump came into power and people must adhere to them however unpleasing they might be, due to President Trump's self-centeredness.
