Code of ethics can be defined aa a written set of principles or guidelines that ensure that a group or individuals act or ethically conduct their activities as well as following their set ethical standards and primary values (Dessler, 2016, p. 383). The code of ethics serves in most instances as the benchmark for all the investment specialists internationally, regardless of all the cultural diversity as well as domestic or local laws. The code of ethics requires all the individuals to behave or act withy competence, respect as well as integrity. Different organizations use different measures and techniques such as hiring ethical individuals, training, or use of reward and punishment techniques to ensure that their employees comply with the ethical guidelines set.

One of the ways in which the employer or the organization can monitor and ensure compliance is through the use of electronic eavesdropping. It is essential to note, however, that this method of monitoring employees’ compliance with the code of ethics is allowable up to a certain point. Additionally, employers are also allowed to intercept emails in an attempt to protect the property right of the organization (Dessler, 2016, p. 388). For this method to be useful in monitoring the employees’ compliance with the organization's code of ethics, then the employer needs to issue online and email usage policies. The policies are meant to inform the employees that these particular systems are only meant strictly for business operations.
Another method that an organization can use to monitor the employees is through the use of videotape (Dessler, 2016, p. 388). However, it is also vital that the employer discloses that it is using surveillance on the employees, and the employees accept this in writing. Additionally, it is critical that the organization follows the stipulated laws and does not install surveillance in the restrooms or employees' locker-room.
Conclusion
In conclusion, ethics and ethical code of conduct are essential in an organization. It is used to ensure that the organization runs smoothly. Monitoring of employees to ensure compliance with the code of conduct is vital. Still, the organization should consult and follow the law in doing so to avoid lawsuits in case of employees’ privacy invasion or intrusion.
