Introduction
The most fundamental consideration when deciding on building a good home is to choose the right marriage partner. The socioeconomic background of the partner has a bearing on the success of any marriage life. For instance, a college graduate should marry a college graduate to bridge the income gap that may exist between the couples.
Again, research has found out that marrying a partner from a similar socioeconomic background would enable the couple to be better positioned to withstand the storm's life together than the couples from divergent socioeconomic backgrounds. For example, when one marries a fellow graduate, their cumulative income would be higher than that of the high school graduates. As such, the couple can survive by the earnings of one person in the event of a layoff of a partner.
When building a good home, one should avoid falling into the trap of substance abusers. A person should also avoid building a home with a mate who had cheated on the previous relationship. The dating phase of any relationship should ensure a person identifies a compatible partner. As such, incompatibility should not be the basis of divorce since dating gives one the chance to identify a compatible partner with whom they would build a good home.
Some of the desirable traits of a good partner in any relationship include; willingness to overlook flaws of the partner, sense of humor, even-tempered, caring, and the ability to express sensitivity to the partner's feelings. It is worth noting that shared values and goals are highly essential when setting a right home. If the partners have different values, they tend to disagree on many issues, thus increased disputes within the relationship.
Avoiding Divorce
The marriage life is sometimes accompanied by so much pain and sorrow that sometimes the marriage partners tend to think of divorce. The essential step in avoiding divorce in marriage is for the individual partners to discover their needs. Upon discovery, such needs ought to be communicated among the partners since the needs present areas of vulnerability and sensitivity of each partner.
Sharing of inner feelings and thoughts is one of the best ingredients for avoiding any divorce since it creates a sense of connection as well as improved intimacy. The partners can also avoid divorce by accommodating and complementing each other. When the couples accommodate each other, they can hold in mind the various long-term goals of the relationship, thus subduing any feelings of negative provocations.
As such, the couples must be willing to heal conflicts through suppressing any feeling of negative emotions that may result in divorce. Most importantly, the enjoyment of love today has been thwarted significantly by the sense of dissatisfaction and the range of choices that the partners may be having. For instance, some couples divorce because they had high expectations of their partners, which they later realize, upon marriage, that they were just illusions.
As such, couples should engage in a considerable period of courtship to know the partner better, thus limiting the chances of divorce after marriage. Again, each partner should desist from falling into the trap of lust and the expectation that the relationship will feel smooth at all times.
Being Emotionally Satisfied
In any marriage relationship, the best way to feel emotionally satisfied is to remain committed. Commitment here relates to the ability to honor the value of the relationship over any other momentary feelings that may come across the relationship. Improving intimate experiences with the marriage partner is essential in maintaining an emotionally satisfying relationship. This could be possible maybe through having some fun together, visiting new places and playing favorite games.
Furthermore, emotional satisfaction in a relationship can also be enhanced through investing in making the partner happy and feel appreciated. In so doing, you experience a deep feeling of emotional satisfaction and personal growth. Furthermore, having a model framework of the kind of partner a person needs to often kill emotional satisfaction within the relationship. For instance, partners would tend to compare whoever they have with what they deserve, thus resulting in criticism and emotional distress. The resultant effect of such an experience is divorce.
Being Financially Secure
Financial stability is one of the essential factors that promote a happy marriage. In most cases, economic instability has resulted in emotional distress and subsequent divorce among many couples. Before marriage, both partners must know each other's income sources. It is essential to have both partners earning some income so that they can complement each other in meeting the family needs in the case where one person faces a period of layoff.
A relationship where both the partners are college graduates is more likely to be more financially secure than that of high school graduates. When one marries a fellow graduate, their cumulative income would be higher than that of the high school graduates. As such, the couple can survive by the earnings of one person in the event of layoff of.
