Brain Dawkins gave one of the most memorable speech in the Hall of Fame recognition ceremony from after being awarded the Ring of Excellence for the glory he earned Philadelphia Eagles under his Pro-Football career in the team. The objective of Dawkins speech was to recognize and thank all people that played a part in his pro-football career and motivated him to be the success in the field. From the first line of the speech the notes different people from teachers, coaches, doctors, fans and family members who assisted him in good and tough times when he went through depression (ESPN 2:10). Dawkins recognizes the importance of his primary and secondary school coaches who made him be a tough player who could take any challenge in the field whether an attacking role or defensive one. Also, he appreciated the owner and the fans of Philadelphia Eagles who gave him the opportunity to serve his team from where he excelled. Equally, he denotes how his family, the wife, parents, brothers, and children gave him psychological support when he went through depression.

The speech structure efficiently helped Dawkins attract and maintain the attention of his audience. He began the speech in a loud but soft voice enough to be heard with everybody in the congregation (Sansom 3). Dawkins then raised and opened his hands up for a warm reception from the audience who responded which exhibited that indeed he had their ears (ESPN 1:30). In the body of the speech, he remained focused on the theme of the day which the audience wanted to hear. Eventually, Dawkins had incomparable energy in voice and action; he effectively used the stage using body movements such as nodding of the head and arms movement to connect with the audience. Finally, Dawkins used the last segment of the speech to summarize his speech effectively; he used final remarks such as 'lastly' to disconnect with the audience (ESPN 21:30). In the section, he went on thank all the audience for the role they played in his pro football career.

I believe that Dawkins speech caught the attention of the congregation at the Hall of Fame as well as those that watched from their homes. It was a speech from a person who was very objective in the statement and never wanted to bore the audience with extraneous information. The use of verbal and nonverbal cues of communication greatly helped to make speech a remarkable one.
