Introduction
Although it may sound unreal to some people, one of the ways through which parents are taught how to help their children develop and grow a relationship with God is through workshops. Just to mention, workshops are meetings that are organized for a group of people to engage in constructive discussion or activity on a particular subject or project (Boone, 2015). These workshops present a decent chance in offering lessons on parenting methods that help children to grow and develop a relationship with God. These lessons on parenting give parents the confidence they require to bring up their children in manner that pleases the Lord. Most of these workshops and lessons are fuelled and taught by experienced spiritual teachers, with aid of massive biblical evidence and reference.
There are no set rules in the area of parenting; nor are there manuals instructions to give directives to parents on how to bring up their children in a manner that is reflective of good reputation, mannerisms and of good discipline. Equally, there is no correct way to raise children, neither is there a magical formula that can make a perfect guide to the same (Boone, 2015). However, parenting is subjective and parents are the most crucial part in the in the bid to raise children that have a relationship with God. Workshops are a perfect platform for parents to gain invaluable lessons from spiritual teachers and mentors, as well as specialists on how to raise children whose upbringing is rooted in the Word of the Bible. As such, it is important for parents to be keen to attend workshops on parenting lessons and get information on how they can bring up their children in the fear of God, however, it is important for them to realize that they should have a relationship with God themselves to inculcate the desire from their children to have the same relationship as well.
Taking Part in Seminars
Although one may use seminars and workshops interchangeably, there is a difference between the two. Ideally, one would say that a seminar is a bit more traditional training session where there is a presenter or a teacher with the ideas and presentations to the audience. The audience here takes in the points that are helpful from the specialist (Brown, 2015). In a workshop, there is a much more interaction between the audience and the presenters-a workshop is much more interactive, and the participants generate some form of goals at the end of the session. Workshops have their participants fully involved in forms of discussions, exercises, and the likes. Just like workshops, seminars are also a decent opportunity for parents to learn how they can raise their children in a way that they will have a relationship with God (Brown, 2015). In seminars, parents can expertise from spiritual teachers and other specialists. It is important that parents attend seminars and get invaluable information from people with a specialty in the matter.
Seminars present chances for parents and guardians to gain expertise on the modest ways in which they can prepare their children to have and nurture their relationships with God. It is important that parents have the exposure to learn a thing or two from biblical concepts and facts about parenting that they can get from teachers in seminars. In the modern day church, there are numerous seminars as well as workshops organized for the purposes of giving parents the opportunity to interact and learn more about parenting in a godly way.
Encouraging Parents to Develop a Passionate Relationship with God
In the Bible, God instructs parents to "love your God with all your heart and soul and might." The Bible continues to instruct parents to pass that relationship with the Lord diligently to their children and shall talk about all of these things when they sit in the house and at all the time. This is a rephrased version of the scriptures in the sixth chapter of Deuteronomy; verses five and six (Clark & Clark, 2018). It is the responsibility of the pastors and spiritual fat her of parents to encourage them to have a deep and passionate relationship with God before they pass it onto their children. Moreover, the above scripture instructs parents to first passionately love God. He wants parents to understand that it is not possible for them to transfer unto to their children what they do not have.
For the parents to help their children a relationship with God, therefore, it is important for them to have a passionate relationship with God themselves before they raise their children to have the same. As such, pastors and other Biblical teachers have a mandate in teaching parents to commit themselves to having a relationship with God as well (Clark & Clark, 2018). By so doing, parents will have experiences on how it feels to be in a relationship with God and how to nurture and maintain the same relationship as well. Therefore, it is the mandate of the parents, as well as pastors and teachers alike to ensure that parents obey the scripture that commands them to have a relationship with God first before they can pass it onto their children.
Making the Word of God the Standard
Parents are supposed to be encouraged to make the word of God the center of their livelihood, especially in raising up their children. In the current era, there are as many views on the best parenting ways as there are parents (Cole, 2013). The truth of the matter is many of the parents in the current era raise their children based on the way they were raised by their parents or grandparents, books on parenting they have read by a children's psychologist or based on some advice from pediatricians. As such, it is clear that raising children based on this criteria, the orthodox means, does not give the right environment for children to grow with the knowledge of God. In this regard, many parents fail to consult the book authored by the creator of the universe and the initiator of the family unit.
Parents must be encouraged to refer to the word of God in raising their children because the word is full of instruction on how to raise them in a way that brings them closer to God (Yousefi, 2016). Raising children as it is instructed in the word of God should be the center of any parent to ensure that children grow up with knowledge of the importance of having a relationship with God (Cole, 2013). The word of God should be the school from which parents gain knowledge to raise their children; led by the word and the holy spirit of God. As such, parents should be taught to always refer to God's word on the way to raise their children, since the Bible has clear guidelines on the same.
Sunday school Classes
In most churches, children are given an opportunity to start their classes on the ways through which children can grow up knowing God. Churches have a guideline on how parents can bring their children for Sunday school classes, in the process of their upbringing in a godly environment. These classes are paramount in that children are exposed in an environment that brings them closer to the word of God (Cole, 2013). There are many reasons why children should be brought up through Sunday school program. Sunday school will improve the bible knowledge of the kids. It is correct to understand that once one knows and understands the word of God, they are more likely to obey Him. Sunday school assists the spiritual growth of the kids and hence modeling them for Christianity. Spiritual growth is more effective in small groups of bible study and that is what bible study offers.
Sunday school also helps children to build meaningful relationships as they grow up, as well as share fellowship with members of the same age group as they grow up. Teaching parents to allow their children to take part in Sunday school class is essential since their children will be exposed to all those benefits explained above and many others (Cole, 2013). Ultimately, children will grow up knowing God, reading and understanding his word and is one of the best ways to raise children to have a relationship with God and nurture it. Therefore, parents must always allow their children to join Sunday school classes to learn the Bible, grow spiritually and learn the importance of having fellowship at an early age. This will be highly helpful for them as they grow up.
Attending Church Conferences
One of the most effective ways through which parents can be taught how to raise their children to have a relationship with God is through attending conferences organized by churches to discuss matters to do with parenting (Hodges, 2016). These conferences will usually take a few days but they are instrumental in equipping parents on the necessary ideas on how best they can help their children grow up in a manner that pleases God. In addition to excellence spiritual life that these conferences over to the parents themselves, these conferences are specifically orchestrated to help parents talk about ways through which their children can grow in a way that is reminiscent to what God needs children to grow.
Parents should always look out for any conferences that their churches may have organized that are meant for parenting purposes (Hodges, 2016). Just like workshops and seminars, conferences are very useful because they are interactive and they usually have specialists and seasoned men of God to help parents design ways through they can bring up their sons and daughters to have an intimate relationship with God. It is important, however, to note that having a personal relationship with God is exclusively a personal decision, but the environment in which one grows up can determine this decision. In this regard, parents are supposed to create the best environment for their children to make the right decision of having a relationship with God and nurture it (Hodges, 2016). Attending conferences organized by churches is one of the ways through which parents can learn invaluable information on the ways to help their offspring to grow to love the Lord.
Attending Parenting Church Rallies
Although there could be a similarity or two between a workshop, a seminar, and a rally, it is important to understand all these are different kinds of meetings, albeit them being attended by big masses of people (Rainey & Rainey, 2018). This study has already differentiated a workshop from a seminar, and simila.rly, it will distinguish a rally from the other two as well. A rally can broadly be defined as a mass meeting of people making a protest for or showing support for something. It is not necessarily a must that there is a guru or a specialist in rallies, but people turn out in large numbers. Churches have begun to organize rallies that show support for or protest against something (Rainey & Rainey, 2018). In the contemporary church setup, many churches are organizing rallies as well to show support for parenting member and share an open discussion on how to raise children that fear the Lord.
Rallies are becoming increasingly popular among churches, as pastors and teachers of the Bible take the forefront to teach parent on how to raise their children in a manner that pleases the Lord and aid them in establishing a personal relationship with Him (Soliday, 2015). In rallies, chances are high that parents will interact with parents alike and discuss on some of the ways through which they can bring up their children in a godly manner. Whilst in their quest to gain more information on the subject, it is vital that they do not forget that the biggest success will come in prayer.
Retreats Organized by Churches
Most of the ways through which parents can be taught how to bring up their children in a way that would prompt them to have a relationship with God are through meetings. It is correct to assert that many of these meetings have the speakers and the audience, in which cases the pare...
