The plural executive is more democratic than the single executive since unlike in the later, power in the plural executive is not vested in a single individual. The plural executive is composed of seven members, six of whom are elected on partisan elections. Each member of the plural executive can choose to work independently since they fight to be accountable to the public. Furthermore, the accountability aspects make them work in favor of the public leaving their agendas aside in most case. Unlike in singular executive where the man who has the powers is answerable to nobody, plural executive calls for impeachment of any member because of gross misconduct.
Powers are subdivided into the different members of the executive making it hard for misconduct since no single member has total power. This calls for the members t work together to make an impact in their office term. Governor has to be persuasive to win other the interests of the other members and ensure that his policies are a success during his term in office. Single executive in most cases results into tyrannical kind of leadership which is not conducive for the proper discharge of services to the governed.
How does the power of the governor in Texas compare to other states?Texas is one of the states in the US that empress plural executive leading to circumscribing of the governor's powers. The governor enjoys good pay, and he is wealthy, but when it comes to power the case turns the other way. "The plural executive limits the power of executive officials and makes these officers more accountable to the public, but it can be inefficient at times" (Champagne & Edward 2013 chapter 8). Power and authority get divided to the different members elected in the plural executive calling for the corporation of all members for the prosperity of service discharging in Texas. Unlike in the other states, Texas governor has to share the powers and authority in the leadership with the different members of the plural executive.
Consequently, there is a post of lieutenant governor outside the office of governor meaning that the governor of Texas does not have the final say in the leadership hierarchy. The dispersal of power in Texas allows different groups that are interested in the governance of Texas to get the opportunity of influencing the government and policy-making in this state (Champagne & Edward 2013).

In plural executive, a different member of the executive might have a personal interest, and this may cause competition. Mischievous deeds like bribing them to come in terms with the others might erupt. Competition resulting from personal interests is set to prevent effective and smooth discharge of services to the governed (Champagne & Edward 2013).
Governor's control over the executive is limited since he or she is a member of the plural executive like any other member. The fact that the individual members make decisions at their interest will result in the limitation of service discharge. Additionally, the governor does not have the mandate to oversee the committee.
ProsThe presence of different members who sit in the plural executive brings about accountability hence discharge of service to the governed is assured (Champagne & Edward 2013).
