Introduction

Electrical engineers' work is to design, develop, and supervise systems installation for homes, industries, and commercials. A qualified engineer should be able to perform duties through knowledge in the practical application of engineering science and technology. Practical applications objectives are to implement electrical theories while carrying out engineering projects. Electrical engineers are not limited to working within their fields, but they are supposed to interact with other stakeholders such as field surveyors, finance managers, and quality assurance departments when carrying out projects. The internship is part of a four-year degree program, therefore, making it possible for individuals to apply their course work theory in a working environment. It is during an internship that students get an opportunity to increase their skills while creating working connections with leaders in the industry. Graduates often get a chance to work under experienced engineers. There are large companies that offer their employee's classroom training. Engineers' career grows as they get a chance to work on complex work. It requires an average of one year and a half for a new graduate to gain working experience after entry into the job market. Military training is another option that can help an individual to advance in electrical engineering. Military take in graduates from electrical engineering institutions who might consider working in the military.

Critical thinking: it is a requirement for engineers to be problem solvers naturally. A good electrical engineer is, therefore, required to be in a position to think critically. Critical thinking makes it possible for engineers to apply logic to evaluate the weaknesses and strengths of projects. Problems are encountered daily at work; therefore, engineers should be well equipped with ideas and approaches that can help them to work smoothly.

Circuit designing: it is the most basic skill that every electrical engineer should have. Successful electrical engineers should be able to have a clear understanding of how circuits work. A good understanding of circuits makes it easy for electrical engineers to design and fix electric works.

Instrumentation and electrical measurements: Electrical engineers have to be conversant with the operation and interpretation of electrical devices. It is the greatest part of the job for electrical engineers to ensure that electrical instruments function correctly. Electrical engineers are also tasked with repairing old electronic components; therefore; they should have skills in testing the functionality of different aspects of currents.

Career management: On top of a good understanding of the technical aspect of electrical engineering, electrical engineers should have business and managerial skills to help them advance their careers. After graduating and getting a job, it is important for electrical engineers to grow their careers by exploring their entrepreneurial chances in the field.
