1. What are some of the direct observation methods that an artist uses to create their images?

Creating images is not a skill that most individuals possess. This is artistry that requires coordination of the brain, hands, and sight to come up with eye-catching pictures or paintings. Artists apply various direct observation methods in the process of image creation to enhance articulation. Through direct observation, an artist usually has the full control of the creative aspects of the piece of art they are working on and can, therefore, manipulate their work to pass the message they intend. (Petherbridge, 1982) Some of the direct observation methods that an artist can use to create their images include; memories where the artist remembers something they saw and draw it down, photographs, i.e. recording or documenting a picture through art and printmaking.

2. What distinguishes printmaking in comparison to other art mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.? What do you think is the benefit for an artist to make prints?

Printmaking is decent for spreading data via word and image quicker because if an image gets created in a single woodblock or any other material, then it is possible for the picture to print-out infinitely from them. Printmaking got mainly applied in the text or books industry since they needed to copy several books to spread out fast. Printmaking significantly reduces uniqueness characteristic of artwork, but the practice remains a very suitable method for publishing material in bulk.

3. Visual record Agnew Clinic by Thomas Eakins painted in 1889.

The above-described picture is an oil painting by Thomas Eakins that captures a traditional surgery class in progress. The art was a tribute to surgeon and anatomist Davis Hayes Agnew on his last day of the performance at the University of Pennsylvania. (Johns, 1991)

In the painting, the artist has managed to incorporate various artistic aspects that can get identified in his work. One is the setting and a vivid description of the ongoing activity. The audience is all focused on the on-going operation at the center of the theatre. From the painting, it is, therefore, possible to tell that there is a learning activity in progress. Another aspect of artistry that the painter presented to the viewer is the social disparity. When every other individual is focused on the practice in development, one individual on the left foreground of the painting is not attentive. This can get depicted as social disparity where different individuals have different wants and needs.

Art is an essential tool that artists use to communicate their message to the various audience via pictorial representations. Although the field is rapidly changing today, the painting will always remain an essential discovery by man and people will still be fascinated by the arts and the message they pass.
