The mood of an era captured by Kushner's ability at a spectacular achievement and marveled in more than one critic labeled the AIDS drama Angels in America. Gays, lesbians, also blacks, Jews, agnostics, socialists, and artists, the playwright emerged as a widely respected spokesperson for many marginalized groups which to whom he depicted in a struggle for dignity, respect and survival in his play.
