Introduction
The paintings can be seen to represent young African Americans, and with the facial expression, it can be sensed that all is not well. The black man in the painting looks frightened and looks like he is appealing for some help or attention. The level of need can also be detected in the kind of clothing the young man is wearing. The painting can be suggestively declare the plight of young black people who have lost hope in life as a result of being victims of circumstances. These circumstances include poverty, inequality of education, struggle, violence with police officers (injustice), racism, and discrimination.
Artist Statement about the hope of young Black people
“It is high time that proper administration should act on the long–term transformation of society’s perception of young African Americans. It is at this point that more opportunities should be granted to African American young people as a sign of encouragement and support to live to their potential.”
From the painting, the conditions presented and the look of the young black man say a lot about the injustices to blacks in Western countries. For an extended period, the aspect of inequality issues due to color discrimination has resulted in a loss of hope, especially to young African Americans. There is this perspective that African-American youths are from low–income families, which makes them associated with various scenes of crime (Waters, 2017). It is also noted that the system does not recognize fully young African Americans, and most of their rights are violated. In places like Chicago, Los Angeles, and Dallas, situations are always worse, and immediate actions need to be taken. At those cities and estates, it is high time that mayors and city leaders play a crucial part in triggering communities to come together and improve social life with no violence and discrimination on a color basis (Waters, 2017). It is an action that can restore the lost faith of young Black Americans and live their lives to their full potential.
The unhappy look presented in the painting shows that the issue of loss of hope needs to be adequately addressed. There are some reported cases of how the rates of violence against young black people have increased just because they are black. The frightening look presented in the painting could also be expressing the untold suffering of the vulnerable group as laws will always find them wrong. It is a situation that may limit their freedom of movement in search of more opportunities (Waters, 2017). Violence and discrimination prevent them from reaching their full potential as citizens. It should be well noted that when these young people lose hope, it also has great adverse impacts on their families, neighborhoods, and the large community at large. Therefore, empowering these black young people becomes a collective responsibility, and all people should embrace it.
Summary
The appearance of the painting has triggered some suggestions of why the black man is not seen to be happy. The situations in which these black young people are being subjected may lead to a loss of hope due to becoming the victim of circumstances that are beyond their control. However, there are some actions which could be taken by relevant authorities to ensure that hope is restored to the young black people. Bringing all the decks to the table
It is an aspect of taking the welfare of young African Americans as the collective responsibility of members of the business community to the philanthropy sector College. (Graham & Pinto, 2019). The collaboration in these sectors will help reduce the violence rate that is misguidedly linked with black young people.
Creation of a Multilayer action plan
The cities can create a detailed action plan that measures particular outcomes for African-American youth. It is a plan that should encompass agencies’ cross-section and the systems to define children’s welfare, the level and quality of education, justice, and finally, the development of the workforce.
