Winston Churchill, the previous British Prime Minister, was born from an aristocratic and wealthy ancestry in Blenheim Palace on 30th November 1874. In 1895, he joined the Royal Cavalry. As a part-time journalist and solder Churchill was able to travel to various nations including South Africa, Afghanistan, Cuba, and Egypt. He was then chosen as the Conventional MP in 1900 for Oldham before he moved to the Liberal coalition in the year 1904 where he steadily raised ranks within the government. However, Churchill had his weaknesses as he got too much involved into details at a personal perspective a factor that made it hard for him to focus on the entire picture of the scenario (Dionne et al., 2014).
Churchill has useful personality characters that illustrate his excellent leadership skills. The traits include enthusiasm, emotional stability, self-confidence, assertiveness, frustration tolerance, warmth, extroversion, a sense of humor and trustworthiness. His features were outstanding which involved positive engagement with others, good influence, ambition, cooperation, good communication, vision, and development (Madanchian et al., 2017). All the traits were possessed by Churchill who was a superior leader who portrayed the skills effectively. This is an indication that he is a perfect inspirational leader who encouraged some upcoming leaders through his motivational speeches and leadership traits (Ogbonna, & Harris, 2010).
Churchill was defined as a transformational and charismatic leader. He was known for his clear expression of visions due to his persuasive skills of communication. His capabilities made him be a man of the people he also provided encouraging speeches that inspired people in the United Kingdome (Sweeney, Soutar, & Mazzarol, 2008). As a motivational speaker, he was able to promote the UK's citizens to be courageous and hopeful during desperate times. He was also seen as a visionary individual who brought a significant change in the country. Through his visions, he was able to ensure the preservation of the Western civilization and against dictatorship. The discussed principles indicate the reason for my Churchill was selected as an inspirational leader (Dionne et al., 2014).
Churchill was a great leader who acted as a role model for others. He was therefore regarded as an exemplary leader who understood that for him to gain commitment and meet the highest standards, he must be a role model for others (Gibson & Weber. 2015). As a result, Churchill aimed high to ensure that he became the best in any path he chose to follow. He relentlessly master oratory that made him grow as a great political leader in the World (Schreiber, 1966). He took the frontline during wars and he was committed to master strategies and logistics to ensure he could lead the military and the whole country at war (Gibson & Weber, 2015). He performed well in all his endeavors. He, therefore, model the way by showing good behavior that was used as guiding principles. Churchill followed his wishes and could only do what he wanted. He did not follow the wishes of other people. Churchill could speak and act on behalf of the general public. He disclosed that he was wary of Stalin and Nazi Germany at the time he was working with British Government (Schreiber, 1966). The British Government rejected him for disowning Stalin and Nazi Germany. After realizing that he was correct, he was re-invited in the Government to protect the oppressed through defying the World's oppressors.
Churchill inspired a shared vision by bettering the future of his people. Churchill had a vision of eliminating those who oppress the citizen and he was clear about what he could do. He engaged in war even after France had surrendered to ensure that they were not overpowered by Nazi Germany. At the age of 16 years, he already had a clear vision concerning his personal life. He shared it with his friends who remembered him saying, "This country will be subjected somehow, to a tremendous invasion, by what means I do not know, but I tell you I shall be in command of the defenses of London, and I shall save London and England from disaster." There were other people who had already thought of saving the World. He therefore took his education and work seriously after he had spoken these words. This showed that he followed his vision with a lot of persistent and dedication to prepare himself for what he saw as his destiny. To free the World, he worked diligently to ensure he followed his personal vision.
Furthermore, Churchill encouraged the heart by encouraging British military officers to continue in war despite the surrender of France (Schreiber, 1966). In his speech, he said. "never give in, never in nothing great or small." During the second world war, he as holding a very tough position which required courage (Schreiber, 1966). He did not give up until the end of the war. His courage was seen when France surrendered from the war and British soldiers remained alone. It was because Churchill believed on commitment and courage, he remained in war.
Conclusion
For British Military to win Nazi Germany, Churchill had to challenge the process by changing from the status quo. He used speeches that inspired British resistance in 1940 and 1941 when Britain stood alone in its active opposition to Adolf Hitler. He also led Britain as Prime Minister until victory over Nazi Germany was been secured in 1945. He could not achieve what he wanted without changing the way things were being done (Schreiber, 1966). After the surrender of France from the war, Churchill had to venture out on how to overpower Nazi Germany through taking an action which he did not know its results. He decided to continue with the war despite the surrender of France. He had to attack the Battle of Oran where he ensured that six ships were damaged, and more than one thousand French killed (Gibson & Weber, 2015). This was because he knew that France would hand over power to Germany.
After winning the battle after the surrender of France, he celebrated the victory and ensure that every military officer develop a heroic feeling. In the process he enabled other to act through his deeds. He could ask his followers (Schreiber, 1966). "What is the use of living if it is not to strive for noble causes and to make this muddled world a better place for those who will live in it after we are gone?" He involved his military officers to defend the nation by creating an atmosphere of trust and human dignity to enable military officers to protect British Government. Churchill therefore enabled his military officer to act by ensuring that each of them feel capable and powerful during the war.
