The Benefit of Cloud Computing

The benefits of cloud computing are as follows; it encourages flexibility. The reason is that the cloud capacity can be increased to adapt to the expansion of a business (Stergiou, et al., 970). Secondly, the use of cloud enables recovery of information. A person would be able to recover his or her lost data when the hard-disk crashes. It enables computers to automate software updates. Computers linked to the cloud would be able to update their software once the advance software is posted on the cloud. Cloud computing is cheap to acquire and run (Stergiou, et al., 971). The reason is that an individual is just required to subscribe and enjoy the services. The cloud has increased collaboration. People are able to share documents and operate as a team. Cloud computing is portable. It can be accessed in any place due to an internet connection. Therefore, it does not limit a person (Stergiou, et al., 971). Cloud offers the security of information. A person has to input a password before accessing the documents. Hence, documents stored in the cloud are safe even if a laptop gets lost or stolen. The cloud encourages competition because businesses and people are able to access various ideas and compare notes, encouraging them to work hard. Lastly, the cloud is environmentally friendly.

The first disadvantage of using cloud computing is the downtime. The reason is that no provider of cloud would claim service outrages immunity (Wubben et al., 40). The cloud depends on the internet connection and your access to cloud be limited if the computer is not connected to the internet. Secondly, the cloud is vulnerable to attacks. The cloud is prone to cyber crimes and security breaches due to its application of the internet (Wubben et al., 40). Lastly, the cloud is expensive for short-term projects and small businesses. The reason is that the business would spend the same amount on subscription compared to large enterprises.
