Introduction
Volunteering involves spending one's personal time talking part in the selfless activities that are aimed at benefiting other individuals. A volunteer is an individual who is kind, idealistic, compassionate, and selfless and tends to put other individuals needs before his or her own. Volunteers are usually of great help to the entire community since they tend to immerse themselves in a pool of numerous opportunities that may also be beneficial to their future careers. We can encourage people to develop the spirit of volunteerism using various strategies that include; first, defining the purpose. Defining the actual reason why people should volunteer tends to be a great way of motivating people to volunteer in various activities. For instance, volunteering also helps to improve one's life skills and enabling one to become an all-rounded individual (Wilson, 2012). When a person engages in voluntary activities, one tends to be socially aware of the challenges that exist in the community, and one also tends to learn to appreciate their life and also value what he or she possesses.
Secondly, leading by example to ensure that those you are encouraging have gained total belief or trust in what you are telling them. One should first take the initiative of engaging in voluntary duties so that people can learn the benefits of volunteering. If the young individuals see the adults putting their passion into proper, use they usually feel motivated or inspired to do the same. This, therefore, makes them see the need or urge of taking part in voluntary duties. Thirdly, providing fun learning activities. People tend to have the perception that voluntary work is tiring, boring, and requires too much physical strength and time. To eliminate this perception, we should add fun to the voluntary duties or opportunities, for instance, by including various types of sports in voluntary activities. Fun tends to be the greatest motivator that makes people to take part in the voluntary duties, particularly when the volunteer work involves a group of kids from the poor communities. Fun also enables the volunteers to avoid all the stress of volunteering, thus enabling them to perform their duties efficiently.
How We Directly Giving Back to the Community
Giving back to the community through the non-profit organizations and volunteer groups usually does much to help the individuals in need and also to contribute to the common good. Despite the strategy used to give back to the community, these actions or deeds will always touch many people's lives. Even the smallest deed can bring about change and also positively impact the community by providing a renewable sense of hope. We usually give back to the community through various ways that include; first, donating to charity, people usually help those in need by offering a few dollars to their favorite charity. Some individuals usually decide to donate approximately ten percent of their monthly paycheck to the needy; however, one can also decide to help or give back to the community even if one does not have money to give (Wilson, 2012). Instead of supporting the needy financially, one can decide to give out what he or she has, for instance, once can decide to donate clothes, books, and shoes to schools and homeless individuals. Secondly, volunteering. One can decide to give back to the community through volunteering in various support groups within the community. For instance, one can decide to volunteer at the local school to assist in the normal school duties or to share other skills. People tend to gain a lot from voluntary activities; for instance; one tends to learn new skills. Thirdly, sponsoring the youth's sports team. Most teams within the community face the challenge of lacking p capital to support the local talents. We can decide to support such teams by providing them with sports uniform and catering for any transport cost.
How to Raise Our Children to Be Good Citizens
As parents, we all usually want to raise our children to be good citizens who are responsible enough. Good citizens are expected not to just take care of themselves but also to contribute effectively to the wellbeing of other individuals and the community around them. Parents need to understand that the children do not learn to be good citizens at school or when they sign up for other programs; instead, they gain the good citizenship skills at home. We usually raise our children to be a good citizen through using various strategies that include; first, teaching respect, installing a respectful attitude in children needs total discipline and should be delivered calmly and resolutely. Children should be able to abide and adhere to the instructions of the older individuals within the society. Secondly, teaching responsibility, the society cannot progress without citizens who are willing to ask what they can do for the community. Children are expected to have a sense of responsibility if they are expected to contribute in their daily duties or roles. By the age of eight years, they should be able to take assist in household chores, and as they continue to grow old, their responsibilities should increase.
Any Program or Project That Directly Impacts the Individuals Around You
One of the main project that directly impacts most individuals around me, particularly in my community, is the non-communicable diseases management program. Most individuals within my community are affected by non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. This con communicable program has impacted those around me in that it has helped to reduce the number of non-communicable diseases being experienced within the community particularly through eliminating the risk factors of the disease and also providing proper medications to those affected by the diseases.
