Introduction
The Song dynasty was a celebrated history era in Chinese that started in 960 and until 1279. The period was founded by the Empower Tizui following his usurpation to the throne of the Later Zhou; this ended in ten kingdoms and five dynasties. Similarly, the song came into massive conflict with the contemporary Western Xia and Liao which were in the northern part of China. The song dynasty gave China an exuberant inclusion of different cultural activities as well as the use of gunpowder to restore peace and order along different borders. Notably, most of the things which are being celebrated in China today are as a result of Song of Dynasty. For instance, the type of food being eaten, cultural activities, art, music as well as the roles of gender originated from the song of the dynasty. The song played vital roles in creating coherency and stability in China and its neighbors. This paper examines the association of song of Dynasty and the cultural interactions that were evident in the United States due to the Chinese song of the dynasty. It also captures different scenarios which are related to the position and roles of gender in the China culture about the United States attributions.
History of Song of Dynasty Culture
The Song dynasty was regarded as a sophisticated and culturally rich age for China. It was associated with advancements in literature, music, visual arts, and philosophy. Similarly, according to Gao (2018), the ruling beaurecracy officials underwent extensive and strict examinations process before reaching massive heights in education practices as well as cultural widespread in China (Gao, 2018). The culture later spread to other places in China with the aim of influencing socio-economic and political aspects with the intention of enhancing growing literacy and other arts.
Chines Culture in the United States
In the United States, the Song of Dynasty culture is represented through different practices which the Chinese have subjected the United States toward. Chinese food has become predominantly common in the United States with many locally adopting the new style and delicacies which are associated with the Chinese. Similarly, several visual arts such as painting, designs, and drawings from China have been seen in the United States with buildings and architectural designs explicitly applying the Chinese techniques in the new building. Chinese music and dance have also been vividly portrayed in the United States. Most Chinese songs are played in local radio stations while the dances displayed on different cultural occasion. Significantly, Chinese fashion has also adversely penetrated through the United States making it a new culture among the natives. Interesting, most American have also adopted the Chinese mode of dressing, hairstyles, and outfits about different occasions which they are supposed to attend.
Collectivistic Culture in China
In Chinese culture, the position and role of the family are significant. This deviates from the Chinese culture and history which has been taken personally with most members. However, on rare occasions, most Chinese companies and individuals are driven by selfish and ruthless desires. Similarly, the Chinese social rules aim at promoting selflessness as well as putting the needs of the community ahead of all individual needs (Triandis, 2018). This supports togetherness are people are encouraged to participate in collective responsibilities while aiming at making the whole China successful. Besides, slight differences are common, but it remains that Chinese culture is very collectivistic as compared to the American culture where people are after their selfish gains.
Artistic in the Chinese Culture
Art in China is visual regardless of their origins and the artists concerned. Most of the arts in Chinese were inscribed on its heritage and associate with simple sculptures and potteries about the dynasty ruling which lasted for several years. Similarly, the Snow Lion Dance was the most common in Chinese culture. Others such as the dragon dance were created for the celebration of the spring festival.
On the other hand, China had vast examples of music which were being done for different occasions and cultural celebration (Park, 2017). For example, the rock music and Madonna which was melodic as opposed to the natural intrusion of harmony.The Chinese music is associated with traditional instruments to make them outstanding. Additionally, several architectural designs have been evident in China with massive inclusion of different forms of paintings being recognized by the departments of art and design. The most common architecture in China is the lumber constructions which takes different shapes. Others include temples, bridges, and roofs.
Chinese Culture Values
The traditional cultural values of China include harmony, courtesy, benevolence, righteousness, wisdom, loyalty, honesty, as well as the filial piety. These values are embodied in the diplomacy of China through the harmony concepts which are pertinent in most Chinese traditions. The cultural values promote national identity among most members of the society who are destined to honor and always regard their culture as the only one. Although they are deemed to be complicated, the values provide huge diversity among China people around the world to make them persistent.
Chinese Culture’s Religion
Culture in China through the support from the government permits religions such the Chinese folklore, Buddhism, Confucianism as well as the Taoism (Storozum et al., 2018). Similarly, Catholic has also been recognized in Chinese culture due to the inception of independence from the Roman Empire. This has reduced the perception that China was an Atheist country as most people have started joining different religions depending on their desired faiths and customs that surround it.
Sex and Gender Role in China
Chinese allows every person to participate in different activities with mild concern on their sexes and genders. According to Zuo et al. (2018), men were subjected to technical chores such as ironsmith, hunting, buildings and provisions to the family (Zuo et al., 2018). Their roles extend to the creation of opportunities to others about their qualifications. On the other hand, the female was subjected to household chores although under certain circumstances their roles extended to regular duties such as air hostess, medics and teachings. Moreover, men were overall engineers and cooperation with other countries to sign deals. They were to be the leaders of the country and other recognized bodies.
Acculturation
Due to the faster rate of modernity and the introduction of new laws governing different countries, most cultures have been regarded passive especially in China. However, it prudent for the state to allows culture mix-up with other countries to strengthen and shape the dwindling one. Religions need to be hyped to psyche up people towards honoring their culture.Conclusion
In conclusion, the Song of the Dynasty in China contributed adversely to the culture mix between China and the United States. Several Chinese cultural characteristics such as mode of dressing, eating, music, and art have been seen in the United States. Similarly, music and architectural designs which are common among the Chinese cultures have been adopted by several other countries leading to mix-ups in religion and gender role. However, culture mixing is needed to shape the dwindling one in China.
