Introduction

The Artist 2011 is a black-and-white film of French that was released in 2011. The film is a homage to the movies of 1920s and is one of the first mostly silent films with its musical feature making it win the Academy Award for the best picture. The film opening reveals the premiere of a movie with the starring silent idol played by Jean Dujardin. It entails one of the adoring fans by Valentin who contrives to slip past the security cordon. On reaching the side of Valentin, there are events of playfully kisses. In the newspaper for the next day, a photograph of the kiss appear with the caption, "Who's That Girl?" As a result, the girl is auditioned as a dancer. When Valentin sees her at Kinorgrpah studios, he insists to the boss of the studio that she has to be cast in the next movie. The film is comprised of music composed by Ludovic as well as works by other composers including Alberto. The music gives the film a climactic scene with the composition accompanying the extended scene without dialogue.

The film shows George behind the screen of the cinema waiting and ready to meet the audience. The cinema however has a panning warning sign that required the actors to remain silent behind the screen. The music continually plays in the background with the audience opening the moments of the film within the silent movie. All the characters in the film are silent until the music is over is when the audience burst into unheard applause, which makes it clear that the film is silent. The Artist consists of magical reverence with the music paying affectionate attribute to the plot of the film.
