The thought of birth control is often linked to pills and women. However, the issue of birth control cuts deeper, particularly when it comes to teenagers. Numerous individuals do not advocate for male contraceptives. It is critical to understand that both the female and male contraceptives have several negative and positive effects on the users. As such, parents should effectively advise their teenage children on the impacts of any form of birth control before recommending them. In most cases, people overlook the adverse effects of contraceptives on the human body. Given the alarming number of sexually active teenagers around the globe, the use of contraceptives should be encouraged in both genders, although in reasonable measures.
Prevention of unwanted pregnancies is one of the primary reasons that drive women to use birth control methods. However, a good fraction of people argues that the use of birth control methods to prevent pregnancy does more harm than good since the only aim of using the contraceptives is to avoid pregnancy leading to reckless engagement in unprotected sex. In turn, unprotected sex may result in dire consequences like the contraction of sexually transmitted diseases. Moreover, the use of contraceptives has the ability to alter the ovulation cycle leading to irregular periods, which may be highly inconvenient to the ladies.
In males, surgical severing is the most common form of contraceptive. The process works by hindering the entry of sperms to the seminal stream. Teenagers who prefer this surgery would be naïve and irrational due to the irreversible nature of the surgery. Hence, the teenager needs to make an informed decision before undertaking the process since it is inevitable that the procedure will greatly interfere with the reproductive system. The heating method is another male contraceptive method that involves elevating the heat on the testicles, thus limiting the sperm count. Although the process is reversible, it takes a relatively long time since the teenagers are still undergoing growth, and their hormones have not fully achieved a status of balance.
Currently, the majority of teens around the world are sexually active. Consequently, the teenagers' several instances of unprotected sex elevate the rate of abortion since most pregnancies that come as consequences of such practices are unplanned. It is critical for teens to comprehend that practicing safe and protected sex through taking the necessary precautions is essential in reducing unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS. Nonetheless, teenagers should also understand the impacts of such actions on their dreams and personal goals. For instance, having a baby at an early age will mean that other vital aspects of life, such as education, are delayed.
Conclusion
In conclusion, birth control methods should be used by both females and males. The stereotype that only the females should only apply it should be avoided. Furthermore, it is a collective responsibility to ensure that birth control methods are applied safely and not abused. However, the various side effects associated with using birth control methods should be fully understood to ensure that the users know what they are practicing. Also, comprehending the side effects means that teenagers are open to choosing among the multiple forms of birth control available. Hence, possible drawbacks such as unplanned pregnancies can be avoided while minimizing the risks linked to the process.
