Introduction
To enhance sustainability, there should be economically efficient, inclusivity, or socially desirable as well as ecologically prudent. All these improve economic growth possible and necessary for a country (Nijkamp et al., 2002). Ecology in economic development has aimed at meeting the needs of China today, through conserving of the surroundings for future generations. Therefore, it is necessary to develop ways of using various resources in the environment, and this forms a basis for maintaining and improving varieties and quality in the economy. Besides, it is necessary to utilize the resources effectively, to develop industries as well as generate employment in the country (Blewitt, 2017). To achieve this, China must look deeply at the management of resources, both ecological and economical, from the bases of regional to international. Besides, it is also necessary to consider the impacts of the potential risks towards the environment and the economy in general if no actions take place. Through this, sustainability development in the country can be achieved. In this paper, I have looked at the sustainable development in China and the ecological problems that are challenging the development.
Most of the local communities in China have been working towards achieving sustainable development through the devising of sustainability indicators. This is particularly incorporating issues that environmental justice, through monitoring progress of restoring the ecology. China has been known for the manufacturing of goods, and this has affected the ecology in a significant way (Blewitt, 2017). It has been hard to monitor the manufacturing companies, to ensure that the environment has not been polluted. Besides, manufacturing industries that have been based within the same area have made it hard to identify the company causing environmental harm and assign it a responsibility to collect the externalities. As a result, pollution has caused some negative impacts on weather and water, which affects agricultural products adversely. In return, this has been changing the development of a sustainable economy. To achieve sustainable progress, the government in China has called for the participation of the community, as well as the managing of both regional development and urban growth.
Writers and activists in the society are restoring the ecology by inspiring the community by giving back to nature, on what human beings have demanded exceedingly. This has enabled significant learning experiences that improve the understanding of society towards human beings and their relationship with nature. Human needs this knowledge since they have played a vital role in contributing to environmental degradation. Educating people in the country on maintaining effectiveness in the environment offers them a comprehensive understanding of two factors; how overexploitation of natural resources impacts immediate landscapes as well as the biotic community in general (Nijkamp et al., 2002). The biotic community is an insight that can be observed as more valuable than the restoration of the economy itself. It leads to the crises of the environment about pollution, overconsumption as well as the scarcity of raw materials. The ecological sustainability in the country has also played a role in social responsibility. As the government continues to undermine the capacity of nature in providing human beings with services like clean air and water, as well as resources like food and raw materials, the people and social relations between them will be subjects to pressure.
The increase in ecological problems in the country will lead to the growth of conflicts and improvement of adverse social factors, personal safety, as well as public health in facing environmental threats. In return, this will decrease access to natural resources and services. Recently, the overall ecological sustainability has been dependent on social sustainability (Nijkamp et al., 2002). If a certain number of people live in a social system where their capacity in meeting their needs are constrained, then they will not have active participation or investment (Blewitt, 2017). In return, they can be violent and full of anger, thus will not trust their nature at all, since their social trust will have collapsed and barbarism developed. Therefore, poverty, conflict, as well as other forms of social stress in the community, can lead to environmental degradation. These factors should also be put into practice in China, to avoid environmental degradation, thus enhancing sustainable development. Precisely, the lack of necessary facilities in various communities in the country has made people overexploit natural resources, which in return reduces the development of the economy. The government in China should work in collaboration with other people, to ensure that poverty has been reduced and people can acquire basic needs with ease to avoid over-exploitation of natural resources.
Conclusion
In conclusion, ecological factors play a significant role in sustainable development. These are factors that are contributed significantly by human behaviors, and thus, they can be limited. For instance, activities that involve the overexploitation of raw materials like mining and deforestation, which contributes to landslides (Nijkamp et al., 2002). Other activities that include the manufacturing of goods lead to pollution of the environment, either by releasing harmful gases or waste products to the environment, without minding their impacts on human beings and the economy as a whole. The reduction of such pollution can be achieved by setting and following strict rules by the government. However, fines and ensuring that people or companies causing pollution are responsible for the impacts. In identifying individuals or people violating the norms and polluting environments, the government in China should work in collaboration with other people. Since the people in the ground or the residents living around the polluted areas are most affected, they will effectively report whoever will be going against the set rules. People should also be educated on improving their environment by taking care of it to enhance the sustainable development of the overall economy
