In every workplace, teamwork allows members to have a healthy engagement and develop a good working relationship. After reviewing chapter 14 of the textbook "ten steps to transform team and workplace," I finally picked three which are most influencing to me. "Hire only people who are better than you, Trusting your people, and Being Frugal and generous" are the three steps I chose for transforming teamwork in the workplace.
It is essential to consider hiring people who are more professional than us so that we can utilize their potential to transform the organization. Organizational duties require people with valuable skills and ideas to transform them into more productive institutions (Mehta, 2018). Hiring people who are not qualified may lead to professional errors that can finally render it redundant. As a team leader, it is equally important to have trust in all the team members that they can offer their best. In most cases, once workers feel entrusted with a responsibility, they always work hard to prove their point. Leaders who do not motivate their team members by delegating duties to them and trusting their abilities may risk failing from workers' sabotage. Finally, being frugal means being careful to avoid unnecessary waste. As a team leader, it is imperative to understand all the financial loopholes and seal them so that we can control any financial wastage. At the same time, we should be generous to support all essential projects of the organization to enable the team to deliver on its desired goals.
As much as the three steps are essential in transforming teamwork in the workplace, there could be some challenges in implementing them. In my current workplace, I think that the lack of trust among the team members can be one of the most significant challenges in trying to implement the steps of transformation. Team members tend to have a lack of confidence as a result of poor communication or failing to share information amongst them. To avert such challenges, team leaders should always ensure reliable channels of communication to all team members to allow them to act at the correct time.
Human Resource Best Approaches
After proper review of the author's blueprint for new Human Resource management, the two approaches I picked are "Task-oriented and Transformational approaches." I think it is exceedingly significant to apply the task-oriented strategy to enable the organization to meets the designed goals based on our performance standards. The transformational approach is equally essential for our team to be strategically proactive and forward thinking.
Task-oriented HR approach can be benefitting to our team for several reasons. Being a task-based approach, it enables leaders to focus on priorities of tasks that need to be done first to allow the organization to grow and achieve its dreams. That will bring job satisfaction, motivation, and a healthy relationship among team members. Once team members are in a good working relationship, the productivity of the team shall automatically increase and yield positive customer outcomes. The transformational approach of human resource management is equally influential since it gives leaders the potential to affect the perceptions of their team members for social capital benefits (Brander et al., 2015). The approach equally presents a great potential to establish organizational culture and encourage proper communication among all team members.
In my current place of work, I think implementing the two new HR approaches would not be so difficult. Our current HR is one that understands all the pertinent issues of modern management and inspires workers daily. Employees are almost fond of him since he follows all the cultural diversities and brings everyone on board in matters relating to decision-making. That will give him an easy time to bond with employees, implement strategic task-oriented activities, and produce positive outcomes.
