Introduction
The communications and the media at large have been seeing tremendous growth over the sat half a century. Apart from that is has also recorded quick transformation from the original forms of communications to the modern once that are in use today. It will continue to change in every other minute. The evolution and the new technological developments can be described to be more of resourceful and openness. For instance, the internet is considered to comprise of more technological progress of which it is among the newest kind of outlet in which a good number of populaces across the planet earth can get access. They can as well utilize it in communication. Like any other forms of communication before the internet, the internet can transform the way in which the citizenry can achieve the right of freedom to expression. However, this social media has allowed the utilizers to insult, bully as if that is not enough, some of the users have gone along the route to threaten other users, and they don't seem to have fear to the punishment that would come on their way. Social media has gained more popularity especially in the recent past which leads to a fundamental transformation in the form of communication among users (Harasymiw, Therese 35). Take for example the Facebook social media which has attracted more than seven hundred thousand very vigorous utilizers. These users are not just convenient but also absolutely rapid enabling then to link and interact in just a matter of seconds. As the very many people in the general public are adopting the social platform, the criminal, on the other hand, is busy perfecting their skills on how to conduct new as well as the most professionalized crimes which are difficult to notice even by the most intelligent urgency officers. The social media are a website that's based on services which enable the people to interact and also construct a public figure that gives them an opportunity to communicate with unknown individuals and can form a social network that is visible that is according to Sheik and Badiye. This essay focuses on the way in which social media has enabled the operators to bully, insult as well as threaten other utilizers without having a fear of being punished.
The broader utility of gadgets that are internet enabled in the whole social media operations has doubled with an increase in the level of ignorance on the part of the users. It is the matters concerning the cyber-crime and security which is one of the major explanations as to why social media enable its customers to misuse this essential platform. A massive population across the world can access social media more efficiently by using any device provided it is an internet enabled instrument. For example, social media like Instagram and Facebook is today embedded in the phones (Harasymiw, Therese 47). Furthermore, it has been assigned keys to enable easy access by the users. Badiye argues that everybody who is a computer skilled in the social network operations and they can be contacted using the utmost of social media websites. Many of these users are not warranted of any online lack of security of which the criminals have. With this, criminal take advantage given that the victims do not know what as well who is interfering with their accounts. The communications that are done via the social media composes of transfer photographs and messages, through the online charts. It also includes sending any minute documents at the fall of the hummer. Thus those people who share the above information can be individuals or even a group of people who are in the same socioeconomic status and same time interests. For this significant point, the social media mentions the popularity and the feature of the platform to exposing the individual characters to insults and bullying (Head, Honor 57).
Lack of control of the social media anonymity is among the other issue that has been raised as the reason in which the social media is being misused. In spite that some people can as well decide to use official names or identification, a good number, on the other hand, chooses to use a false profile. They decide to use fakes false names; others use names and photographs of different people and even sham to be the real person also thought it's evident they are not. They do all this to make sure that anonymity is maintained. Look for this example; someone can give its identification on the Facebook account using a false name, despite knowing that they are breaking the law which governs the social media operators. Someone who wishes to join any social media, for example, the Instagram is just required to enter his or her name, birth date and finally the email and address but after that, no legal provision guides the system so that the information enter could be proven to be true. This form of anonymity gives an opportunity for them to express their insults, bully and even threaten other users without any fear of victimizations by the law. It is provided that reason that they are assured that they will not be got or identified there cannot be questioned of any misuse of the media. It is made worse since the account being g used to insult bully and even threaten the other users does not at all match their official names. It could not have been taking place in the modern worlds since people could have a fear of being held accountable. This form of uncontrolled anonymity has also lead to the boldness of each to find out the identification of theft in a situation that unauthorized people made their access to the individual account without their full consent. By so doing, they will now start sending the owner's friends some offending messages and photos to appear as its coming from the real owner who is not the case. As time elapses, some the people get enlighten and begin to mold up very comfortable with this social media communications and socialization, they last forget their identification which then finds its way to the internet, this can be so stressful when such information gets into the inappropriate personnel (Head, Honor 67).
The breach of approval, on the other hand, is one of how social media has been a form of abuse. Another tactic which is revealing the social media utilizers to bully, insults and threatening are by the fact that an individual can be made to be a member of a particular group without fast getting their permission. The doers of the above vice carry out their activities without any form of fear that one can be punished. Let's look at this scenario where a Facebook account owner adds another person to a particular group without even granting permission from that person. Usually, this is actually what the bullying characters undertake so as that they can get linked with the precise person then start insulting and intimidating as well as finally give out their message of threats. After they have been connected with the target individuals, the criminals can now begin to posting insulting messages, post some very false and awkward messages on the owners' timeline, they can also post private photos and other very private information concerning the individual. If that is not all these criminals can intimate the person. In a situation where two people who are close to each fall out, one of them can use social media to abuse the other. In such a scenario, one of the offended individuals can use social media to insult and even threaten the other. Some of how the other part can be harassed is by posting physical and even sexually oriented feature on the target individuals' timeline. It is possible for the insulting individual because of no evidence that they are the culprits. The above culprits are much aware that no existing stringent rules that govern such cases whenever one is found, suspect. Thus the above given sufficient reasons, the criminals have elevated confidence having the thought that they can hurt whichever person without excessive promised punishment (Myers et al. 78).
Finally, the last evident which indicates that the social media is being misused is the fact that culprits, which in my case I mean the criminals, is that they view the interaction at the social media as the real interaction. These criminals usually waste a lot of their time posting malicious information about other people. Those individual and in my case, I will call the frustrated individuals, will start looking that the Facebook or the social media in which act occurred as hell to them. They will be using the social media at the only place where they can dispense their emotions off. Notably, for this scenario, I will give you an illustration of a racist who takes the other dialects of other race as less critical and therefore after the end of the day they will feel less human of offended and don't deserve to live in that society. To be exact to the point is that that very something which usually begins as a harmless joke about other people offline will at least turn to be violent once that situation finds is a way to online communication.
However, it is more important to appreciate that indeed social media has helped in providing a framework in which people can express their concerns concerning various things in society. All else depicts the mention a few of them. They include expression about poor governance, communicating about in fair practices that are happening in the community, for example, issue to do with sexual abuse of young children. Some social media users can use this means a way of giving their condemnation and express their most profound hurt. Social media is also an essential form of communication in the modern world (Waller, Bruce N 89). Not to forget the fact that social media has made the world termed as a global village, this is because one can be in touch with another person in the different country several miles away. All this is courtesy of the social media and technological advance at large.
Conclusion
As I conclude, it is evident from the discussion above that social media has to lead to bullying, insults, and threatening among the users. Hence it has created some form of insecurity and fear among the individual. While on the other hand, the culprits do not have any fear of being punished. For this reason, our authorities should enact laws to gap the situation.
