Introduction

Human beings can be monsters in their deeds. This could either get influenced by external factors such as the environment, genetics, brain damage or malicious and destructive instincts that drive them into a monstrosity. People have continually indulged themselves in activities that may lead to the questioning of their humanity. Being human entails taking part in actions that are humane, acts of consciousness that do not affect or interfere with the well-being of other planetary dwellers may they be fellow humans or other creatures with whom we share the environment together. In the recent past, intense detrimental activities from people have been observed globally. Most of these activities are all monstrous and people being the driving force behind them. Individuals who commit or take part in such conducts can reasonably get referred to as monsters bearing in mind that they only end up making a living or thriving conditions of other planetary inhabitants difficult.

It is possible to wonder how human being monsters are in areas such as genetics; this can get proven with the unhealthy genetically modified foods and organisms that have been made behind closed doors in laboratories. For instance, certain genetically modified foods were tested and found to have adverse health effects on their consumers. The evidence supporting these malpractices is sufficient enough. Case studies have indicated that human beings are responsible for a vast majority of the destructive activities on the planet more than any other species. Although attempts have been made trying to repair the damage already caused, a lot more is to be done if any change or step forward is to be made. Referring to human beings as monsters could be a step too far, but it is justifiable since some of their acts replicate those of monsters. People are monsters who pose a threat to the harmonious existence of other species and also of their own on the planet. Various factors such as; the environment, genetics, physical in addition to physiological effects and brain damage have influenced human beings making them monsters.

The Chernobyl accident is one of the worst disasters of the modern day. After vigorous study into the matter, an agreement was made showing that human errors caused the accident. Initially, only about 2 people died as a result of the initial explosion. Another 29 died later as a result of high radiation poisoning. This was just but a tip of the iceberg of what was going to happen latterly. After the nuclear explosion, radiation poisoning followed affecting most of the inhabitants who did not vacate the area. Those exposed to the radiation suffered from cancer and leukemia.

Children born of mothers who got exposed to these radiations were also born with congenital disabilities. Thyroid cancer which occurs as a result of absorption of the radiation iodine was the most rampant form of cancer in the region. Children could contract these illnesses even while still in their mother's wombs. Another disease associated with the Chernobyl children is leukemia also referred to as cancer of the blood. There was a 50% increase in the number of children born with leukemia after the explosion. Other cases of radiation poisoning recorded include; disorders of the nervous system, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

As it was expected, the Chernobyl plant explosion exposed many persons to radiation poisoning. The primary environmental pollutant is the greenhouse gases that get released into the atmosphere either from industrial waste disposals, exhaust pipes of cars and other locomotives among other machines. The Chernobyl disaster not only released these gases but radiations too. The build-up of these gases in the atmosphere is not only poisonous for the air that we breathe in but also for another wide array of factors. For instance, carbon dioxide combines with atmospheric water and leads to the precipitation of acid rain. Acid rain is corrosive and attacks both stonework, and metallic roofing of structures is thereby leading to the need for the constant replacement which is an economic constraint. Greenhouse gases also lead to the destruction of the ozone layer. The ozone layer leads a crucial atmospheric component that prevents harmful rays from reaching the earth's surface. The destruction of this layer leads to the allowing of these rays to penetrate the atmosphere. An increased case of skin cancer reports has been observed related to this.

With these elements released into the air and water sources in the region, some areas are up to date still out of reach due to the high radiations still present. It is important to note that the environment is our most important resource as it is the central source of most of the raw materials we use in our day to day lives. Taking good care of it should, therefore, be a top global priority in all nations. Environmental concern is an easy task that requires minimum effort to realize the goals set. This was environmental pollution that led to the contamination of the nearby farming lands thus bringing food production for the locals to an end. The people, therefore, had to depend on government aid to meet their food requirements.

Genetic mutations were also among the repercussions of the Chernobyl disaster. Defects of the genetic system were witnessed in both animals as well as in human beings. For instance, children were born with longer than usual arm or limbs. In other cases, deformed dental alignments and misplaced organs got observed. For the elderly, complications occurred in a whole wide variety ranging from immobility to worsening of terminal illnesses

Genetic Mutations in Animals Resulting From the Chernobyl Disaster

Physiological harm also known as physiological trauma refers to damage that occurs in mind as a result of brutally distressing occurrences, the inability of the brain to cope with this overwhelming magnitude of stress results into physiological trauma. Shock is no new experience to the human race. People have been known to put others through tough and trying events that have had a long-lasting adverse effect on them. Physiological harm has varying results, and different individuals respond differently to different traumatic stressing conditions. One of the best areas of study when it comes to traumatizing occurrences is Africa. A continent in which most countries have got crippled by wars the people there are not new to trauma. A case study on the Rwanda genocide had the following revelations.

The year 1994 is probably and will always be the darkest year for the people of Rwanda as a result of acts against humanity orchestrated by some top-ranking official in the Rwanda government most of whom were in the army. Under the leadership of Juvenal Habyarimana, many people would go ahead and lose their lives in one of history's bloodiest massacre. Habyarimana was a human monster who only resulted in physical and physiological harm to have things done his way. He encouraged his youthful supporters to rape kill and maim their opposers. The so known as the Rwanda genocide that ended up claiming the lives of around 800,000 people happened in this year. What started as a small political disagreement would end up claiming the lives of innocent civilians and change a country's course of history forever. The war lasted for about 100 days which left the country shaken and destroyed to its very core. The aftermath of the Rwanda genocide is still palpable even after more than ten years since it's occurrence. A massive loss in the country's population led to a crippling state of the economy since labor demands could hardly get met. The wave of rape across the country led to a significant outbreak of HIV cases and a record of new infections was recorded. Children born out of abuse and traumatized women were just but a tip of the iceberg. Children were left orphaned with nobody to provide for them. Most of those who did not find help soon died either of starvation or disease. The countries infrastructure, i.e., roads, public amenities such as hospitals and schools got destroyed in the war. The nation was in a state of mayhem. The genocide in Rwanda was a trying moment in the country, and it is a marvel that the civilians and the nation as a whole managed to recover from the terror caused by the war. Credit was due to those who worked while stretched to the limit to bring the war to an end. As a patriotic member of a given country, people should strive to live in harmony and avoid indulgence in any acts that may provoke the disruption of this peace. Also, alternative methods of resolving disagreements should be embraced rather than resulting in v...
