The Republican Party is in power in 2018, in the United States of America hence it makes sense that its policies be examined comparatively with pluralism. Pluralism is a form of a select interest group which means that it has a more diverse outlook, unlike the Republican Party. The Republican party is traditionally a conservative party. Most of its policies support less government interference in people's way of lives. The ideal in pluralism is where people from varying backgrounds; economic, cultural, social, economic and political, are all involved in leadership in a devolution kind of power set-up (Plattner, 2010). Pluralism has to use lobbying and activism tactics to get their message across.

Pluralism and Republicanism both exist because democracy allows all kinds of ideas. That being said Republicanism advocates first for nationalism, where its citizens have top priority over everything else. Comparing pluralism with pluralism, concerning inclusiveness, the latter is a form of globalism as it is international. The Republican Party is Conservative as has been showcased by President Trump's efforts to deport illegal immigrants. The Republican opinion is varied concerning immigration policies. On one side they recognize the importance of immigrants in building and essentially making the United States of America (Martin & Midgley, 2006). On the other hand, Republicans want to protect the citizens of the United States whatever the case.

In 2018, the Republican administration deported several illegal immigrants, most of them Mexicans, and in the process families; mothers, children, and fathers were separated (Heersink, 2018). This specific action came under much criticism. If a Pluralist president were in power, he or she would have emphasized on focusing on what immigrants can do for the betterment of the economy and society and less on the legality of their presence in the country. Pluralism may disregard the law over welcoming people from diverse backgrounds. The Republican party is all about following the law when it comes to immigration.

Another factor to consider when it comes to policies of the actions is equality and rights. The Republican party believes in equality of all citizens (Heersink, 2018). The view of justice and fair treatment for all citizens is a standard policy between Republicans and Pluralists. However, pluralists' equal treatment policy extends beyond their citizens. As mentioned, pluralism has internationalist ideals; in essence, pluralists believe in a perfect market economy, diversity of cultures and welcoming of ideas and practices, including those of immigrants (Heersink, 2018). Pluralism encourages that immigrants deserve the same benefits, rights, and opportunities as citizens. Republicans would beg to differ and add that citizens are owed special dispensation over immigrants and foreigners.

Regarding representation both Republicanism and Pluralism are represented in the United States. The Republican Party has direct representation government. Pluralism is special interest groups which include Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and activist, special-interest and lobbyist groups. Hence, the two ideologies exist in the United States albeit in different forms. The Republican because it is the ruling party pushes Republican or conservative ideals. An example of where representation differs between Republicans and pluralists regard to gun ownership. Pluralism would say if somebody feels they need a gun they should get it, without any restrictions. Republicans would be concerned first for the citizens (Martin & Midgley, 2006), and modify that policy to allow citizens the freedom to acquire guns but immigrants should have background checks done.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Republicanism is conservative while Pluralism is progressive. Concerning immigrants, pluralism adopts a welcoming policy while Republicans are concerned about upholding nationalism in the interest of citizens. Pluralism is something that exists by itself in a free and democratic society while Republicanism is an ideology one has to prescribe. In the United States of America, both these two ideas coexist in government, civil rights, activism, business, and culture.
