Introduction
Each new generation ask itself the relevance of religion in the society, and as time changes, there are new circumstances that emerge, and they create several challenges or possibilities where the people in the society either adopt religion positively or shun it. With the increasing cases of scientific thoughts in society, religion has received a huge blow where people have stopped seeing it be relevant in various aspects.
The Conflict Between Science and Religion: Historical and Conceptual Perspectives
As freedom and knowledge increases and scientific developments continue to rise, religion continues to fade and becomes irrelevant. Science has a deep theory and borders on metaphysical and philosophical foundations of life. The conflict between science and religion began at the end of the nineteenth century, especially when heliocentric concepts replaced the geocentric interpretations of Copernicus. This discovery of science has had a lot of adverse effects which have clashed and affected the religious beliefs that show a different story of earth's foundation. Another scientific discourse that affects religion in society and makes it less relevant is the difference that exists where religion explains that the world was created. Scientific discoveries, on the other hand, show the beginning of the world to be traced back to millions of years back. The scientific discoveries have affected religion with many people believing in science more than religion.
Analytical Thinking in Religion vs. Experimental Thinking in Science
Religion is based on analytical and interpretative ways of thinking while science bases its discourse on experimentation, observation, and mentality to knowing if the studies by science are real. This shows that religion and science are two different things, and many people are adopting the scientific view, which makes the religious perspective to be irrelevant. It is hard for religious facts and unity in society to exist because of the scientific facts that people are bombarded with concerning God and that religion and God do not exist. Science and religion are the leading disciplines that show the truth as a human quest. Religion and science are different because the religion is concerned with the why while science is concerned with the how which makes religion irrelevant in the society as time goes by and people believe in science more than the belief in religion.
Scientists and theologians should realize that science disapproves religion and faith due to the physical evidence that is produced in science, while religion is based on beliefs and imaginary beings. Science provides better technology, inventions, and better advancements, which attract more people to believe in it and the concepts that are associated with several scientific beliefs and innovations. These advanced technologies and inventions lead people to more sin and alienate people from religion, making it more irrelevant as time moves, and more innovations are established. Science shows the world to be external to everyone and this acts as a barrier to religion that shows the world to be internal and most of the time does not border philosophical life foundations hence religion is seen to be more irrelevant in the society.
Conclusion
Science shows completely different concepts that explain the origin of the universe apart from the common belief that many people have concerning God and creation. Many people have adopted scientific, and this has had several effects on religion in the society where they see it be irrelevant. People tend to believe more about something they see rather than things that they cannot see; hence, science becomes more relevant in society than religion.
