Introduction

Late last year, August 2018, I decided to take into acting in films and television at the "actors' circle" in Culver City in Los Angeles. For the beginners like me and others, we had the best acting coach in who was Marcie Smolin. It was the terrifying thing I had done in my life, acting in the presence of a congregation. In my mind, I had never thought or intended to be an actor, but I just wanted to feel to feel what it feels like to be an actor and mostly to have the fame of an actor.

There was a three-hour session once every week where we took through the curriculum which included act study, emotionless interpretation, consultation technique, creativeness, and appeal development. In the first week, there was warm up which was a bit enjoyable because it was just sitting down for us and the coach asks some random questions. Everyone had to ask the coach some problems too. This is what we called interviewing techniques. We also had a chance to interact with other actors where we would memorize lines and act as a coach using our own emotions with another actor in front of everybody else including the coach and other actors

There is this one time I was serving as a sister interrogating my brother who was locked up accused of the murder of a girl. The brother and I had fifteen minutes to discuss, study and practice the script. In the fifteen minutes, we set the table, chairs, and door for my role entering the prison and interrogate my brother. This was a part of cold reading, scene study, and character development. Another time we had fifteen minutes to study, discuss and practice. This time I portrayed as a psychiatrist doctor who had a session with a fifteen-year-old girl who thought that her imaginary puppet friend is real and was screaming very loud. I had to creatively persuade her in ways so that she would accept to take the pills for her mental condition.

On improvisation and scene study, the coach partnered me with two other actors. We had to pick our song and come up with a non-scripted scene that would relate to the song we picked in ten minutes. We chose "let's get physical" by Olivia Newton. I was a best friend with a gay guy who had recently broken up with his boyfriend. I had to encourage him that it is time to forget his past. I then invited him to go dancing in the club, but as we entered, he is already looking at this one guy standing. He favored me to approach this guy to dance with us. My gay friend was all over this guy acting erratically awkward, and shortly he confronted my friend and told him he is not like him. It turned to a comedy.

The monologue was another thing. I had to stand alone in front of the others and do a sad speech. I had to tell you about my past once I was in high institute, the moment my mother kicked me, I became homeless and dropped out of school. I had to think about something that would make me cry for example people who abuse animals make me sad and cry while acting worked for me. It was challenging because it was my first time moving and had no clue. Getting words out of my mouth and collaborating with other actors was also very challenging. Nervousness and pretending was also a problem for me. I got over it but don't mean that I don't get nervous anymore. When I do public speaking, I just do it and get over it
