Many people in college have the goal of changing the world once they are out of college, working up the ladder and having a family. My goals are not much different from them. There are many people who have preceded in leaving a mark on the world and I want to follow in their footsteps. My life purpose is to change the way people interact with each other on the internet. Being polite on the internet should be a principle that should be adopted by everyone.

My goals are to finish college with a high-grade point average (GPA) that will enable me to get a good job and then proceed in getting married and having children. I, however, want to leave my mark in society in a different way. I want to take a different course in my life by getting engaged in activities that will help in reducing cyberbullying. I have worked in various establishment all my life and will work in others in the future, I have gained a lot of experience but I would like to leave for something more than work and play. Despite the growth that I have gone through, I feel that I have been stationary in my life. I want to leave a greater mark on the people around me.

The internet has become a space where people go to bully and demean others. Other people lie about their friends or enemies to shame them. I can infer from the above that people are angry and run to the internet to show their anger towards the other. It's eminent that the internet has been used to do good and bad. There are many people who are affected by bad behavior on the internet. Many people sit at the comfort of their homes and take this opportunity to hide behind their computers and leaving negative, harsh and abusive comments. The internet sets a stage where people can be rude and harsh without facing the consequences as they can remain anonymous. My goal is to interact with people through institutions such as schools and online to raise awareness on the negative effects of being the personal attacks that many people are leaving on other people's social media sites. There are many teenagers and youths who are an imminent danger to insults on social media sites and thus many people can get to read the articles shared on these sites.

I will achieve my goal in several ways. Two strategies that I will use include holding workshops and writing articles that will be shared across various websites. The workshops will be held in various institutions such as high schools and colleges. More people need to be made aware of the lives that are ruined and affected by this bad behavior. The principal reason for this campaign is to ensure that people know that whether one commits suicide can depend on the words one write on social media sites. It's important for everyone to proceed with care as they surf the internet and comment on other people's pages. The rise in suicides that are related to social media bullying is alarming.

Explicit rules must be set to ensure that people are aware of what not to do on the internet. I do not mean imply that a law must be passed through legislation but the social media sites should regulate the people on their platforms. I hope that by the time I leave college, will have established my place as a spokesperson for civility on the internet. I will engage various professionals such as a psychologist to further my goals to help more people and ensure fewer people are abused on the internet. I am motivated by the lives that society lose as a result of lack of civility over the internet. I will know that all is well once teenagers stop committing suicide because of what someone told them on the internet. Lose off lives should come to an end. There should be less negativity on social media sites. Facebook as an example should make an effort to introduce civility on its platform. Its purpose is to connect people and not provide an opportunity for people to be abusive and harsh.
