Racial segregation is generally the separation of people into different ethnic groups or races. In the United States of America, racial segregation was highly recorded between the whites and the blacks. In the early days, the American government implemented restricting policies for housing, banks, and education that declined the value of blacks and separated them from the whites. Many studies that were done before showed how the Africans suffered due to racial discrimination. Despite the negative implications observed in the 19thcentury, racial differentiation has played a significant role in the lives of African Americans because it has transformed their economic situation and political role and helped them remain united.

There has been extraordinary progress in racial segregation in modern days as compared to older days. The economic status of African Americans has changed to better and the education gap between the black people and white people has narrowed. The annual earning of black men and women has increased in a bigger percentage as compared to before. The number of black people graduating in college and high school is almost the same as the number of Americans which is a good improvement as compared to the 1950s when the whites were twice the number of Americans. There is also a similarity in the occupational distribution of the black and whites. The number of blacks in the labor force has increased with many blacks in the higher status and desirable occupations.

Due to racial discrimination, Africans were forced to go live in different places from the white people and their children were forced to attend the disadvantaged schools that were not well equipped. The separation also didn't leave aside the rich African Americans, they too had to live in the poor areas set for the poor African people and their children attended the same schools with them. By living and together the black people were able to stay united as one people despite the oppression by the white people. The black people lived together in love and harmony and helped one another in times of crisis. They managed to maintain and embrace the African culture which was something that the white people lacked.

Segregation is a system established by the white people to oppress black people (D'Souza, 1995). The white people wanted to make the black people inferior and powerless so that they would continue to rule over them and control everything they did. However, statistics show that the African American group is one of the largest groups in the united states of America. It means that Africans carry a considerable number in the American population. The segregation played an important role in bringing the white people together and realizing the potential they had as one united group. As a group, the Africans decided to rise and fight so that the Americans would stop controlling them. They realized that their large number would help them put some people in a powerful position and would help them fight for their rights. They engaged in politics and that's how they ended up winning the presidential post. Obama said that he realized a black man needs stability in the world that he can create on his own.

Racial segregation was associated with suffering and slavery in the 19th century. However, things seem to be different since the blacks have learned a lot of many things that have been of benefits in their lives. The racial discrimination that was started to oppress the African Americans turnout out to favour them. The Americans are losing the control of the black people and their living standards are almost equal. The African Americans have experienced great improvements in their economic life, education, profession, and political life.
