I agree with the author’s conclusion that the attachment of an infant to the mother is related both at an earlier age and later development stages. I agree since there is always a way in which a baby relates to the mother.
Summary
An infant-mother attachment is an emotional relationship between an infant and his or her mother. Mothers make physical closeness with their infants, which promotes emotional connection. There are different forms of attachment behaviors that infants show. The attachments are divided into groups A, B, and C. Group B babies were attached to their mothers since they showed secure pole behavior features. Group A babies, behaved positively when held and negatively when put down, and the dimension is linked to bodily contact. Cooperativeness and anger also distinguished the groups. Group B babies were less angry and more cooperative as compared to the other groups. Mothers securely attached to their children (B) in the initial year are more responsive to the signal of the infant as compared to the other groups. The most common interaction that takes place between a mother and an infant is face-to-face situations. Also, skin-to-skin contact is essential as attributed to attachment theory. When babies are attached to a certain figure, they do not consider it replaceable with another one. Lastly, infants are not attached to their mothers only, but they select the people they interact with. Infant-mother attachment results in future social and emotional development. Thus, children with disorganized attachment are vulnerable to an altered state of mind.
