Description of the Artifact

The artifact chosen and developed is systems analysis, which occurs as a process meant for studying a procedure. The artifact, systems analysis, is an important part of the systems development lifecycle (SDLC) which was to serve the purpose of identifying the goals of the given procedure. Besides, the artifact tends to identify the role the procedure in question would play once it is complete and set for implementation. Subsequently, systems analysis included the appropriate procedures and systems through the whole process would be achieved efficiently. This recognizes that the procedure in which systems analysis is to intervene should take place within a given period. Therefore, there is a time limit and deadline for the accomplishment of the activities regarding the SDLC. The artifact in question is therefore meant to analyze the requirements whose consideration would make the targeted procedures complete within the recommended period and with the available resources (Wuest & Wellsandt, 2016). The artifact was at the beginning of this month to enable a proper analysis of the given procedure.

The original purpose of the artifact was to serve as a technique for offering problem solution by breaking down the system into its constituent parts. The artifact is to enable a proper understanding of a system, which is made of related components working together to achieve a common goal. According to Kim, Baek and Lim (2017), there is need to have an adequate level of understanding of the components and this is made possible by the role that systems analysis would play on the same. Within a system, there are components, which interact in the event of working together to achieve a target. The artifact will be describing how their interaction occurs and the reason behind the activities. The artifact, therefore, reflects a given phase in systems development and covers what it will serve once it is completed.

Outcome Met: Justification

I was required to have a number of skills, which would contribute to the completion of the artifact. For instance, to come up with the systems analysis, I had to demonstrate my analytical skills, which reflected just from the beginning of the project. The system under the analysis is assumed to be used by a given client on a later date. My analytical skills, which were to enable me to demonstrate a proper understanding of the specific requirement of the client. Subsequently, I devised ways through which I would meet the needs of the client who would interact with the system. The analytical skills were implemented right from the beginning of the project. Such skills make it easy to envision the advantages and disadvantages that would be experienced in the system (Tai, 2017).

Besides, Wuest and Wellsandt (2016) added that the other significant skill considered and implemented in the establishment of the artifact planning and execution in an efficient manner. I had to demonstrate my ability to have a keen eye to consider details. This enabled me to plan appropriately for the various stages through which project execution took place. On the same, I developed a rough plan of the expected product in the final stage as the deliverables. This provided me the opportunity to execute all the details of the artifact effectively by referring to the guiding aspects as included in the plan.

I chose the given item due to the importance, which is associated with it with respect to understanding the general SDLC. The artifact I chose and established is a considerable phase of the given process whose role is inevitable. It the stage at which the analyst of the system gains an appropriate understanding of what would be involved in the system development. Besides, it also determines whether the analysts would be able to have a sufficient understanding of what it would cost to complete the process. The specific component of the artifact, which was the most significant was the determination of the objectives of systems development and the measures to achieve them. This required the recognition and implementation of appropriate analytical skills.

Experiences

I learned that the systems analysis is a very significant stage of systems development lifecycle. It, therefore, requires a number of skills all of which contribute equally to the accomplishment of the task. The implementation of the combination of the skills enabled me to succeed in the development of the artifact. Being one of the important stages, it requires keen attention so that an analyst gains adequate understanding and adjusts the procedure effectively. It, therefore, implies it enables one to imagine the form of the final product.

However, the use of the skills posed a lot of challenges since it was not an easy task in the process. For one, the impact of a single skill would not count significantly, implying that I was expected to consider a combination of the skills equally. The success of artifact depended on the skills demonstrated together. Furthermore, I had to devise ways through which the objectives would be met using the limited budget. The achievement of the requirements of the artifact had a connection with the phenomena in the real world (Wuest & Wellsandt, 2016). It can be associated with the analytical exercise required to gain a proper understanding of a task yet to be accomplished. After completing the task, I gained some knowledge applicable in attending to some real-world concepts.
