Robert Ladouceur's article presents three criteria that have to be submitted for an activity to be considered gambling. The three main approaches are: Players wager money or an object of value, the bet is irreversible once placed, and the game's outcome relies on chance".

Governments need to agree with the set gambling definitions generally. The general agreement allows for the same code to be applied in all countries when it comes to the point of ruling out the gambling prospects. The two reasons as to why all governments should agree on the definitions include the fact that a universal description outlines the games that players can play globally. Any game that does not fall under the described games would be considered a violation of the gambling regulations. It would be a violation to introduce any game because it would be unfair to give an advantage to specific players while winning in gambling should be determined by chance and not favor. All games in casinos provide the players with an opportunity. Another reason for the government to agree with the set definitions is because an object of value, which in gambling is represented by money, must be put in place so that individuals receive equal treatment regarding the amount of money that they spend on betting. The money that is set aside to be used in gambling helps in the economic growth of the country. It is, therefore, essential for governments to agree on the general rules to avoid biasness.

Which three errors in thinking contribute directly to disordered gambling problems, and why are they so common among human beings, who are intelligent?

The three errors in thinking that directly contribute to disordered gambling problems include Non-recognition of independence of turns, Illusions of control, and Superstitions. The mistakes are common among human beings because people do not consider chance as an accurate explanation of events. Human beings explain activities that get to be determined by luck, such as gambling through psychological and behavioral interpretations. Concerning the three errors, the explanation gives an insight into why the three errors impact our decision-making process. The first error explains that gamblers can use their experience to determine the next outcome. Different gambling sessions have different results, and therefore the future eventualities cannot, in any way, be determined by the previous events. However, people continue to relate the past outcomes in their current games because as a way of balancing out the result or hope for a favorable chance, that could not be a reality. Human beings live with the assumption that they are in control of the next outcome, and depending on the previsions outcomes, most gamblers believe that they have to win in the next round. The effort to try to beat the system and chasing loss is applicable in almost all players. The last option that gamblers use to bet their financial luck is utilizing superstition. Superstition does not depend on chance but on outside forces that result from superstition powers.

Why has the concept of "addictive personality" become old-fashioned and described in the Lambert article as having "collapsed"?

Addictive personality has become old fashioned, and it has collapsed because people have overused the word 'addiction". The word addiction has been misused in recent conversations to the extent that it lost its meaning, which is attributed to a neurological disorder. All people in the current generation claim to be addicted to something in that actual addictions are no longer deemed as important issues. Drug addiction is the uncontrollable use of drugs despite the negative outcomes associated with the practice. Gambling addiction has the same definition as people repeatedly put finances on chances that could never happen. Just like drug addicts, gambling addicts undergo the process of withdrawal and tolerance. Addiction has lost its meaning even with the negative consequences associated with it. Therefore, gamblers will continue gambling because it is not much of an issue even if it obvious that gambling is an addiction.
