Introduction
I the movie "Diehard", there is a glorious phrase, "Live free or die hard." Throughout my life, I had a different taste, as my age mates, predominantly males were interested in ordinary superheroes, Thomas Gabriel was a guy who amazed and by far inspired me. He referred to himself as the "Warlord." These two characters were drawn from Diehard 4 movie. They had excellent skills and art in typing. This surprised me as it gave them carte blanche at the same time. The man who hacked NORAD when I was young was practically my idol. This act inspired me to attempt a hack at the school's computer laboratory so I could prove a point. Following my attempt, everyone in the room was amazed. All the children in the hall were chanting, "Fadhil hack this computer!" I used my hacking skills to allow everyone in the school to play counter strike in the computer lab happily instead of focusing on a sinister agenda. By the end of the day, every computer in the hall was compromised.
Later in my high school years, I continued pursuing and perfecting the skill, specifically on how to become a computer prodigy. Additionally, I tested myself inform of challenges. Case in point, one afternoon, after a long day of working hard in school, I performed an internet troubleshooting. It was then that I traced a programming challenge poster which made my eyes glow. An angel was playing the harp while the imaginary choir was singing "Aaaa...," and my computer screen had light simmering into it. Upon finding out the dates for the competition, the angel started playing an electric guitar while screaming, and the imaginary choir begun "Chanting to this is War' from "30 seconds to Mars."
There were two available weeks of studying. I had not involved myself in any Java or C++ learning, despite my hacking skills being good. I changed into my lucky bandana, rubbed my cheeks using my green paint, and my quest for winning the competition started. My C++ books had these symbols and most likely unsystematic words that looked similar to what the Mayans would place on their gravestones when I opened them. However, I encouraged myself by jumping around and screaming. As the competition started, all the people surrounding me started typing, it appeared like being in a race with a million people behind me. I tried to recall what I had memorized in two weeks by remaining calm. After the annunciation of the results, I had made it to the last round, which was so unbelievable. I got into the competition room a second time. All my fellow contestants had some computer mastermind vibes. I, however, kept on believing in myself, although I was so anxious. When the champion was declared, my name was not listed, which made me frustrated. I, therefore, kept on telling myself that it was okay, and I did not have to cry since I only had two weeks to prepare for the challenge. "Sang Pelopor" (translated as "The Pioneer") was the name I was referred to by everyone in my school.
Ever since then, programming competitions have absorbed me. To become a computer prodigy, I have succeeded in gaining the confidence of my parents to allow me to defer for a year and learn to program. Using the mathematical skills that I will learn in college, I will come up with a more effective algorithm and uncrackable encryption systems that will reform the landscape of the computing world, in some time to come.
