Introduction
Mark Zuckerberg is the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Facebook Company. Mark Zuckerberg was born of wealthy parents, and since he had an interest in software networks, he made video games and even Face Match applications that students used to compare the beauty in two ladies' images. The development of the Face match almost leads to his suspension and after which, he realized his potential and dropped out of school to pursue his area of interest. Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook in 2004 and received an offer from Yahoo to purchase the social network at $1 billion, and later Microsoft offered $24 billion of which he rejected (Zuckerberg and Martin, 57). Mark Zuckerberg argued that his invention of starting the Facebook social network was not pegged on money but to create a social connection with the whole world. Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest richest person in the world, with a net worth of $62.3 billion.
Aggressive and Encouraging Leadership
During an interview, Mark Zuckerberg recommends the employment of workers that match the Facebook culture. For instance, in the hiring process of workers on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg ensures that after a worker secures a job, the first training involves training the employees on ways of curbing Facebook cyber Crime. Also, Mark Zuckerberg allowed the recruits to work based on their passion, in addition to their skills. Mark Zuckerberg expects all workers to be willing and able to adapt to changes in the company since he believes this will boost confidence in the workplace (Kent and Tamara, 542). Furthermore, Mark Zuckerberg, as the boss encourages innovations and takes risks for the prosperity of the company; this he achieves because he owns more shares on Facebook.
Working Environment
Mark Zuckerberg creates a culture environment whereby each employee communicates through question and answer sessions, and this he believes creates a sense of belonging to the company. Mark Zuckerberg has ensured a friendly environment by employing therapists tasked with ensuring workers are emotionally secure and doctors to provide proper health care of employees (Hartley et al., 151). Moreover, Mark Zuckerberg ensures that food, recreational facilities, and replacement of damaged computer parts are replaced free of charge. Additionally, Mark Zuckerberg, under its management, has guaranteed better pay for workers to encourage the employees; for instance, the average payments of workers in the U.S stand at $42,000 while the Facebook Company stands at $67,000.
Listening and Learning Leadership Skills
Mark Zuckerberg, through the guidance of Steve Jobs, employed teamwork, and goal orientation in the realization of the success of the company. Also, Mark Zuckerberg, at the age of 15, he had not had enough skills to run a big company, and thus he had to attend business classes, which helped him a great deal. Moreover, he learned from the already established and recognized CEOs and picked the best organization design proven to have worked.
In conclusion, I believe that Mark Zuckerberg has displayed the best leadership skills and which has played a vital role in the maximization of annual revenue and employees' better pay. Therefore, I believe employers should be the boss, create a favorable working environment, learn from the best, and ensure maximum utilization of resources.
Strengths
Mark Zuckerberg Facebook Company maintains the leading role in the global market with more than 1 billion daily mobile users. A situation contributed mainly to Mark Zuckerberg's innovative skills, merging, and acquisition, which has dramatically enhanced the diversification of the company (Zara, 1). For instance, the Facebook purchase of WhatsApp popularized the social networks and largely contributed to the revenue collection of the company. Moreover, Mark Zuckerberg has a strong belief in his ideas and work ethic; for instance, he created the CourseMatch while still at Harvard and effectively assisted students in picking courses based on their interests and their friend's choices. Mark Zuckerberg has excellent programming skills from his computer graduate classes that have enabled him to invent Facebook and CourseMatch.
Weaknesses
Mark Zuckerberg is an introvert by which he is shy, and this has led to even his staff members discriminating against his leadership skills. Also, Mark Zuckerberg's introvert character has led to the public questioning the Facebook original owner and raising concern on the Facebook inventor. Moreover, Mark Zuckerberg lacks communication skills and, in most instances, has led to him disappearing from social media interviews concerning the company's operations.
Mark Zuckerberg faces the challenge of maintaining a competitive advantage in the market. Also, Mark Zuckerberg Facebook revenue of more than 90% comes from advertisement, a scenario that increases the vulnerability of the company, and in the event, companies change their advertisement media will weaken the company's operations. There is difficulty in noting the reduction in the company's revenue even at the growing influence of the users' and companies' advertisements (Halevy, Sora, and Eileen, 12). For instance, Facebook saw a decline in revenue from 58 percent to 44 percent from 2014 to 2015, even when they registered a higher amount of Facebook users.
Opportunity
Mark Zuckerberg Facebook innovation provides a platform whereby companies can advertise their products online. For instance, Amazon pays an average of $30 million annually to promote its products on Facebook. Similarly, Samsung has proved to be the highest spender when it comes to advertising its products, vie Facebook with an amount of $100 million annually (Hartley et al., 154). Also, Mark Zuckerberg Facebook innovation can be accessed by Mobile Phone, which is primarily used by the majority in the world. The Mobile Facebook app and Facebook Messenger ranks first and second in the world and thus, provides Mark Zuckerberg to continue enhancing the application features to attract other users and maintain the current customers. Mark Zuckerberg also has an opportunity to negotiate with the Chinese government to operate in the country. The Chinese culture provides a social individual with the urge to make Facebook friends and share their cultural heritage globally. Therefore, this provides a better avenue for Mark Zuckerberg to market the brand in China.
Threats
The emergence of new social networks that use less data and are appealing to the general public; for instance, LinkedIn has posed a severe threat to Mark Zuckerberg Facebook company competitive advantage in the market. LinkedIn offers those seeking jobs an opportunity to get job advertisements and connect them to global investors and companies. Facebook customers' base is declining with countries such as China abolishing Facebook in their country. Mark Zuckerberg uses software that has proved ineffective to curb Cyber-attacks, and this discourages Facebook users from socializing with friends (Zuckerberg and Martin, 57). For instance, Cyber Criminals posing to be sellers scam consumers by advertising products that they do not offer in their stores, and this significantly confuses. Moreover, due to the lack of useful software use by Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook Company will risk users to online defamation, harassment, identity theft, stalking, robbery, and cyberbullying.
