In the third world countries, the death of an infant is a common thing that mothers always expects it. In the year 1989, Nancy Scheper, wrote an article "Death without weeping," purposely for sharing her experiences as one of the researchers present in a shantytown in Brazil (Robben, 2017). However, there are different ways in which layered vulnerabilities impact the well-being of an individual. Let's take, for example, the death of a child in a community will cause impacts to both the society and close relatives involved. Layered vulnerability through the look at a child's end will result in population decrease plus low economic developments. The above is seen by, 'families who live in shantytowns are usually single mothers who no longer have any support from their families' (Visser, 2017). Generally, they only left with two options in their minds. The options include; working on sugar plantations for low wages or else doing domestic chores in the homes of wealthy individuals.

They also opt to leave babies at home since wages paid to them are too low in that they cannot afford babysitters. In these regions too, there is an additional problem of unsanitary conditions, malnutrition, and drought, which increases the mortality rates of children.

In conclusion, the "core" or "roots" vulnerability among individuals are almost together with economic development in a given nation (Heilman, 2018). Further, an increase in the number of social classes can lead to a high level of infant deaths and the existence of single women without support. Not just single women exist but there too exists a high number of prostitutes in those shantytowns.
