The topic of God and cosmology is a common topic of discussion among scientists. Cosmology is the study of the origin, evolution and fate of the universe. I feel that this is an issue that should not even be a topic of discussion. I believe that the universe, the world, and everything else was created by God. Any thought that questions this belief is equal to questioning our existence as people. It does not matter whether I can prove that God created the universe or not, but only God or a supernatural being could have brought the universe and everything in it into existence. I look at such things as life, animals, and plant alike, and the aspect of how they came into being, and the aspect of evolution and all scientific theories that have been brought into place over time, and they do not add up into how such things came into being. I feel that those people who question the existence of God are those people who do not believe in their existence. Thus they think that they exist on their own.

My mind and beliefs about the existence of God and the fact that He created the universe and everything in it have not changed even after watching this debate. All I saw in this particular debate are two intelligent and learned people are talking and studying for fame. The fact that they took their time to research on an issue involving the existence of God, and whether He created the universe means that they also question the fact that He indeed created them. On that note, therefore, I do not feel convinced by the two men on the scientific explanations about how the universe came into existence and whether it will fade away someday. I still hold my belief that a supernatural being who is God created the universe.

This debate had some points which are particularly interesting to note. For instance, Dr William Lane Graig points that if the universe began to exist at some point, and then there is a transcending cause for its existence. This is means that it came into existence through a cause that is extraordinary and beyond human understanding, which could be translated to be referring to God. Dr Graig also says that the universe is infinite which means that it has no foreseeable end also has a beginning. Further, Dr Graig argues that the universe will at one point come to a thermal end, which will either be attributed to an extreme cold or extreme heat. This point is interesting in that I understand it means that what has a beginning has an end which could translate to the end of the world as per the common belief that the world and universe will at one point come to an end when God comes to judge. Also, Dr Graig points that the universe is a multiverse, which is fine-tuned, which is not due to physical necessity or chance, but it is by design which could only mean that some supernatural being designed it.

The presentation by Dr Sean Carroll also had some interesting points, which are worth noting. For instance, Dr Carroll argues that the universe has a beginning, which is not necessarily by a transcending cause. He goes ahead to give scientific explanations as to how the universe came into being. He also says that according to cosmological models there was no room for God to have brought the universe into existence as it apparently happened in the middle and not the beginning of the cosmological process. Dr Carroll also argues that the natural explanations of the existence of the universe are easily convincing since the theist explanations are not well defined with fine details and proofs about how it came into existence. Interestingly, Dr Carroll also argues that things do not happen and that there are laws of physics, which explain how they happen, and thus not anything that does not follow these laws has happened. Dr Carroll also argues that if God was real and brought the universe, then He should not be hard to find and that life should be perfectly tuned, without any complications or mess. Lastly, Dr Carroll argues that there is no definition of the conditions under which life can exist and how the universe supports them, and how changes in nature would affect life as it is.

Conclusion

After watching this debate, I have nothing more to add concerning this particular topic. However I can note that the two debaters tried to explain how the universe came into existence, it is my opinion that these particular arguments are just opinions of the two and not the gospel truths. The universe and the world as we know it is one big mystery which cannot be explained through studies or experiments and which can only have been brought into existence by a supernatural being.
